Well I did it! I just registered for the Tacoma Narrows Half Marathon on  Aug. 7th!  I'm hoping I will be able to complete in under 2:45.

My longest run to date is 10:46 miles, with my most recent pace on the route 11:05.

Phew...I practically hyperventilate thinking of a Half!! But, I am determined, and they are giving a full 4:30 to complete the route, as it allows for walkers too!

Breath...breath....breath....

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Ah,, you are all over that.
If you are already running 10 + miles.  You could do it right now.

Keep the good thoughts going and stay focused.
When that race comes around just have fun and enjoy the experience.

Kathy,

You've got a great base.  You're going to  nail this event with plenty of time to breathe along the way. Enjoy the exhilaration of finishing your first half marathon.

Wow, that sounds exciting.  I don't know much about running half marathons (yet...), but it sounds like you're well on your way.  Good luck !

Thanks everyone! I am SUPER excited! A co-worker registered as well. She will be walking the half. Her hubby registered as well, and although he has one marathon under his belt (and tons of scars from bad blisters and lack of training), he will be pacing with her.

I get butterflies thinking about it!  I'm "giddy" !
