MMA and UFC
So, I'm doing some Brazilian Jujitsu these days and I'm loving it. Not only am I loving it, but I seem to have a knack for the sport. It occurs to me that I may be a good candidate for MMA. I have the right body type and I put on muscle quickly. At this point I'm a bit heavy for competition, and I'm nowhere near ready in terms of training. At 169lbs, I need to get down to 145lbs to be at a good fighting weight. I don't think that is going to be a problem at the rate I've been losing weight, especially with my current activity level.
My biggest concern is, am I at risk of damaging my pouch? I wasn't given any restrictions that make me think this isn't an achievable goal, however I can't help but wonder. What do you all think? Also, is there anyone else out there that has gotten into martial arts? What has your experience been?
Also, if you haven't tried Jujitsu I strongly reccoment it. Not only is it fun but you're getting a complete body work out and burning a ton of calories. It's great!

Risking your pouch how? I'm confused.

Getting hit or kicked.
I wouldn't worry about it. I participated in a martial art where we are getting hit with sticks similar to escrima sticks. The doc said it was fine. If was an issue for my pouch it would be an issue for anyones stomach.

I'm actually here (on this site) for my sister, but I've been getting her into martial arts and mixed martial arts lately.
I've been into mixed martial arts for a little while now. I've been doing Cage Fitness. It's being promoted by Matt Hughes, and anybody who knows MMA or UFC knows who that is. He's a 9-time champion.
Cage Fitness is based on the structure of a championship MMA bout -- 5 rounds, 5 minutes each.

I kinda have to admit that when I first started, 5 minutes seemed like a long time, but it's so much easier now!
