Great job.  Sometimes it important to just finish despite how we're feeling.

Thanks Rob.  I know you know how it works - some good races, some less than good.  I agree, the finish this time was all that mattered.

Way to go to finish!  Wish I could have gotten over to Missoula for this!

It really is a pretty course, Andrew.  Half of it is before you even get into town (the half anyway) and the early part is along the river.  Most of the streets are lined with trees, too, so it's even shady!

Great Job! I loved reading your race report,my first half in in November, and you have shown me it doesn't have to be a perfect day to make it to the finish line.

Jillian,

The perfect days are more fun, and the races seem more effortless.  But... those days don't happen often, as I'm sure you already know from training.  As long as you do the training, though, the race will take care of itself.

The crossing of the finish line in one of the longer races is really where it's at.  Yeah, I care about the time, but the finish is what people will remember.  No one who doesn't race has any idea what a good or bad time is - all they know and care about is if someone did it.

Hi Linn,

Loved your post. I have my first half this Sunday, and found your description really informative. I never even thought about lines at the bathrooms?! Wow. Thanks for sharing and what an inspiration finishing even when you felt bad. I'll be thinking of you when I'm walking on Sunday.

Thanks Jan!

The hardest race reports to write are for the ones that are far from your best performance.  I also thought that describing what was going on in my head might make it easier for another person to see past what you tell yourself while you're in a longer race just to finish.  By the time you can see the finish line, everything else is gone.  The only thing that matters is getting there.

Good luck on Sunday!  I'm sure you'll do fine.

Congratulations Linn on out-running those inner demons!  Being this far out from surgery and still pushing yourself physically is a great accomplishment.   You continue to be an inspiration to me.

When is graduation?

You are inspiring Linn.  Thx 4 sharing.  2 yrs between halfs even though you have moved to tris is still motivating.  I still have that first half on my to-do list and I would struggle with a 10K right now.   Excellent job!
