Exercise and fitness ADHD

My problem is no longer "I really need to workout, UGH" now it is "I want to run, I want to bike, I want to swim, I want to lift, I want to zumba...).   This is a paradigm shift for me and while I am loving it I find it so confusing!

Did any of you experience this?  How did you channel that energy into a reasonable number of activities that you enjoy?

Right now I work out with a trainer 3x/week and we do cardio and lifting.  I am starting to feel like I want to take on the cardio myself so we can devote the entire hour to lifting.  I just don't know how to narrow it down to one or two things that I can do well as opposed to several that I do half-assed.

What a problem, I never dreamed in a million years that I'd be writing a post like this! ;)

It isn't as far fetched as it may sound. Last year I was sorta in the same mindset only I didn't have a bike and hated the pool.  Now I am fair on the bike and well I don't drown.... much in the pool.

I have finished 2 Tris this year

This is my personal experience and what worked for me. 6 months post op I did my first 5k and loved it. I got an epiphany that doing races is for me, and I just wanted to get faster. Since 5ks are a "gateway drug" I progressed to triathlons and longer running races. Doing these races and the hope in doing well and getting faster is what keeps me going and what keeps me training.

You can do it all, just keep your goals reasonable and realistic. There are 7 days in a week, so on the 3 lifting days you can do a shorter, more intense cardio along with lifting, and on 3 non-lifting days you can do a longer cardio session, and 1 full rest day. Just an idea.

Great advice, thanks.    I think I may go all in and start running and biking this week so my workouts will look like this:

Mon-lift
Tues - ride
Wed- lift
Thursday-run
Friday - lift
Sat or Sun = maybe a litte of both?  A mini bi-athalon! lol

I have a decent fat tire bike that isn't geared but since I live in the flatland it should be fine for starting out.

I'm going to be in Savannah on Thursday for an appt. with Dr. Whipple so I am going to go by Fleet Feet and get fitted for shoes.

Wow, whoda thunk?  :)

You may want to take either Sat or Sun as a rest day and do rest.  Rest day isn't jog a mile instead of running 3 it is rest and enjoy the day.

I use Sat as my long run or ride day.

That was my plan..to maybe bike and ride on either Sat or Sun and rest on the other one.

I really appreciate your advice and support!
