Weekend Workouts - 6/7 & 6/8

I was supposed to do a Bike-Run-Bike-Run workout today but I got sick yesterday. I'm bummed.

Tomorrow I'm volunteering at the Silicon Valley Kids Tri so no workout tomorrow either. Well, not a structured one.

Saturday was rest day and Sunday (today) just finished my first trail distance race: North Face Endurance Challenge Half-Marathon. My garmin said we did a bit under 13mi and overall pace was 12:29. Not sure what our total time was, as the results aren't up yet, but I think we did it in around 2:35:05! And apparently trail running torches calories because my Garmin said I burned 1027 cal!

The days go bye...Can't even remember what I did yesterday.  I know I rode a couple of times...Also walked and weightlifted a little.  Today I rode to church.  Then I rode to the coffee shop...Got my usual; cup of soup and ice tea...Then rode downtown (quiet Sunday afternoon)...Then home.  Later in the afternoon (about 100 degrees today in CA) I rode to a park about a mile away...Then rode around it 3 times, then home.  In the evening I did another ride.  I also use a 10 pound weight I play with...Doing reps with it in creative ways.  I also do a lot of modified pushups (let's face it...I'm 58 going on 59).  I do the pushups that tone the best for me.  Forget hunk...Working on toning.  I've been losing weight over the last 45 days.  Cut out the sugar (well about a tea spoon per day) and the simple carbs.  Eat ton's of vegetables and protein...But I miss the comfort foods.  As you know, it's hard to grab for the energy when you are using glycogen (fat), rather than carbs for your energy stores.  The weight comes off, but I'm pooped at the end of the day.  I'm retired, so I don't have to grab the energy right away, like most jobs would require.  Have a good week everyone...Brian
