Working out is so important to me. I love pushing my body and doing my races. I hate to see how much weight I would gain if I did not work out. I am having huge weight gain and that is with me working out and yes I track my food and take in about 12 to 14 hundred calories a day. I have great friends that I work out with and I would miss them.

Many of us here do not have to exercise to maintain our weight loss. I maintained my loss for about 6 years without any exercise. In 2015 my boyfriend had a stroke and I knew I needed to be more acvtive for my overall health (physical and mental).

Walking is my exercise of choice. I got a fitbit and focus on my daily steps.

I agree with you.My father was so lazy. When he was in 55, the doctor told him to join in the gym but he didn't.In 2017 he had two massive heart attack within 1 month.now he is realizing. After that, I become so active in my overall health like you.i joined the gym 4 months ago.

I do something I love, so its not "exercise". I fence foil 5 hours a week. When I don't fence, I'm grumpy and antsy. I also compete - probably on a monthly basis. All the other training I do is in support of being a better fencer - e.g. weights, agility, flexibility. So I'm at my fencing club Mondays and Wednesdays for 2.5 hours each day. I work with my personal trainer two Tuesdays a month and do the work she has shown me on the Tuesdays I'm not with her. Thursday is usually my rest day. Friday, I do an hour of Pilates, minimum. Saturday is weights and agility (again - the plan from my trainer). Sunday is either rest or competition. I couldn't exercise this weekend because I was traveling and I can't fence tonight due to a family commitment and I'm crawling out of my skin.

That being said, before I started fencing, I was probably in your category of take it or leave it. Find something you love to do and then it won't be just exercise.

I don't believe that exercise can cure depression - HOWEVER - my depression seems to improve significantly if I get in at least two days of cardio work every week. Usually my bike commute is plenty, but this winter when the temp was hovering around zero F, and or there was a lot of snow in the bike lane I would drive to the office and if I didn't get any cardio in I found a lot of excess negative chatter started up in my head. Now I'm walking the stairs (32 floors!) twice a day if I don't ride my bike and that seems to do the trick.

So yes, for my mental health I'll exercise even when it's not needed for my current weight loss, and I'm hoping I'd still do it just be be able to better participate in life. There is a certain joy in feeling strong :)

With my running and workouts I do not have the issues of depression like I use to. Workout seems to help

So agree - when I'm on the fencing strip, I have to be in the moment or I get hit - so my anxiety and depression take a back seat. I feel better physically and mentally when I exercise.
