I had my nutrition class today! I have lost 2 lbs. I five days! Woo hoo! My insurance is requiring a 5% weight loss before I can have surgery. I started out at 388and I am now 372! Yea!
Our class today was on portion and serving sizes. She used cereal as an example. She gave me a snack pack box of cereal and compared it to one of the store bought serving bowls of the same cereal. The amount were significantly different. Both containers said one serving size and the calorie and oz. size were different. This was a big surprise to me. I will be reading all my labels from now on!

My Walmart had them clearanced out, were not a big seller, bought the Lemon and liked it.
Okay folks, what fiber supplement do you take most often and why?
What does it do for your body? Do you take it for price, Dr. recommended it, hunger control, laxative effect, assists with regularity more so than other fibers you've tried, low sugar/carbs, etc.???
Peace and healthiness,
Marie.
I haven't undergone the surgery but I do feel hungry all the time. lol.. How do you feel now? Still hungry? Since I don't know much about the after care of the surgery, I can be of no help. But I would like to know your experience in details.
Thanks for the reply!! I'm thinking of consulting a doctor in my locality to discuss about all my health issues. If I could control my hunger then I could start a healthy diet and regular exercise.

I also don't use a nutritionist even though it's covered on my medical plan. I haven't found them to be very useful and I can usually get better info from a google search and weight loss boards.
For protein, a good rule of thumb is 1 gram for each pound you weight. I usually split my calories as 40% protein, 25 to 30 fat and the rest carbs. This generally meets basic weight loss requirements and keeps me thin.
I am wondering how you are doing, now that is been about a month after surgery?
You see, I also felt this "hunger" about a week after my surgery. I had been on thing but clear liquids though, and I think that I might have been starving myself. When I finally drank a protein shake and then ate some real food, the hunger seems to be gone.
What I wonder is, if I can tell the difference between a craving and hunger? I have been wanting a taco, and I am pretty sure this is a craving, not hunger. But I was a bit discouraged that I felt any hunger at all, as I was told I would not feel hunger for a year. If I was feeling it 10 days after surgery, that did not forebode well for my success.
Eat the hamburger without the bun. But as long as you keep taking in sugar, your appetite will probably be out of control and you'll have strong cravings for other foods as well. Sodas and fruit juices are the worst, even natural fruit juices without added sugar are terrible. Sugar withdrawl isn't fun but only last a few days to a few weeks. Then you'll have a better chance to make good decisions. You can do it !
