This was all pre-op diet advice. My post-op diet is different.

Pre op I had soup, soup and more soup. And greek yogurt. For dessert, I ate a lot of sugar free popsicles and when I had a chocolate craving I ate a sugar free jello mousse cup.

I started using tasting spoons pre-op and toddler sized bowls and plates to help re-train my brain as to what a serving should look like.

Do yourself a favor, make a pot of cabbage soup, maybe some ham and bean soup - nothing with pasta, cheese or potatoes in it. Even if your pre-op diet says protein shakes only, if you add a cup or two (yes, two!) of homemade soup a day, you will feel fuller and still lose weight.

If you need to "cheat" - be smart about it - have an extra protein heavy greek yogurt. Eat an extra 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. Not 4 or 5 times a day, but once a day and you will continue to lose weight and shrink your liver (which is the ultimate goal pre-op)

Do something that is incompatible with eating. For me, I crochet and crocheted about 100 hats for a mission pre-op while quitting smoking and during my pre-op diet. Go to bed an hour earlier. When you feel like you HAVE to eat, grab two popsicles and eat them. SF popsicles are your best friends!

Whoever you got your book from, nutritionist, or surgeons office, call them and get another copy. They should be happy to give it to you. I myself, can't function well without guidelines.

Hello,

I am going through the same thing. I am one month pre op and they want me on 1 shake in the morning. I am trying to replace 2 meals and have dinner.. I feel like I am hungry all day.. my weight keeps fluctuating and now I am up 2lbs. Would it be better to stick w just the 1 shake a day.

Thank you,

Donna

Topic: Scrambled eggs

I am on the pureed phase and loving the fact that I can have scrambled eggs. However, is there such a thing as too much scrambled egg? I have been having 2 scrambled eggs with a tbsp. of mild salsa between 2-3 times a day, every day. Sometimes I will swap the salsa with 1/4 cup of pureed beans (or both salsa and beans) but that is all I have been eating for the last 8 days. Am I overdoing it since I know it has fat in it but it's on my list of approved foods? I don't know what post-op caloric / fat intake is ok and it's not in my nutritional guide from the doctor. The nutritionist is on vacation but I left a message. In the meantime....

Try posting this on the main board (general discussion). I don't have experience with that but you might need to speak with a nutritionist about it. Some people are vegetarians and do just fine with the surgery.

If you post this on the main board then you would get more responses. You can have anything mashable with a fork right?

I put a pork butt ( you can use tenderloin) in the crock pot with bell pepper and onion, water about half way up the meat, and whatever seasonings. Cook it on low alllll day and it falls apart and is so soft.

Stuffed portabello mushroom caps. You can do it pizza style or with avocado, cheese, whatever.

I made Eggface's ricotta bake but added ground turkey.

Google low carb chili relleno casserole. So good!

Refried beans with cheese and hot sauce or get it from taco bell.

Loaded cauliflower, without bacon.

Lunch meat and cheese.

And you are probably experiencing the infamous dreaded 3 week stall!!! I am right now! it's normal so do yourself a favor and don't weigh yourself for a month! Trust me! Don't don't it!
