I'm 11 weeks post op and have asked the same question, but I'm always told to just watch my protein. I would really like to know where others that are successfully losing are at calorie wise. After all it's very easy to consume enough protein and too many calories at the same time! I have been consuming about 600-700 calories per day so it appears we are close calorie wise, however I eat very little sugar. I have no problem with it. It doesn't make me sick or anything. I just avoid it.

You are eating more than I did at 6 months after surgery. You do understand that the weight loss after surgery is a honeymoon period. Your sleeve will grow larger and be comfortable with more food.
Your appetite will increase and you will regain some of your lost weight. My surgeon recommends getting to ten, twenty or even thirty pounds under his goal while in the honeymoon period.
The Bounceback weight that accumulates after the honeymoon period ends is very difficult to lose. A quick gain of 20 pounds is very common.
Your nutritionist may not be an expert in surgical weight loss. The advise you are being given would be good for "normal" people who need to stop losing weight, but it is not good advice for people who have had weight loss surgery.
I had about a year when I was underweight and looked too skinny. I enjoyed that year. The weight came back quickly when my body decided it was ready to gain again.
Now I must be very careful not to gain weight.

I know you wrote this severak weeks ago, but one of the things I do is heat it up like a hot chocolate. You just need to stir every minute if doing it in the microwave. Sometimes I add 2tbsp torani or daVinci SF peppermint syrup and a little milk. Delicious.

watch forks over Knives on Netflix. This will help you.
I love, love, love Cream of Wheat, but used to add butter and brown sugar to it. Now that I can't, I found that a scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder added in (I used Jay Robb) is YUMMY!
I also really enjoy the taste of the Unjury Chicken Protein Powder, and add it to broth and all cream soups.
I have unsweetened applesauce in my frig as well as all the things you've listed... I vary it up every day.

Has anyone tried these from Atkins Nutritionals..??
I bought a 12-pack at Sam's Club today and found the berry to be really pretty good. Refreshing like Gatorade with 90 calories and 20 grams of protein.
Just wanted to know if others had any opinions??

For a special treat ricotta cheese and cinnamon mixed and heated. it tastes like the center of a cannoli .
If you've recently had surgery, it's completely normal to be lacking energy. After my surgery I was worried that I would never regain my normal energy levels. I remember going to the store and having to lie down to rest before being able to put my groceries away. I'd have to lie down after taking a shower. It was awful! In due time, I healed and my energy returned to its normal level (unfortunately, "normal" is lower than I would like it to be!). -Tina
I wish I could help you. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who hasn't been careful enough with monitoring post-op intake and I'm slowly gaining and gaining (thus my reason for returning to OH and reading on the diet and nutrition forum). I know that current problem is eating too many carbs/processed foods. They cause my blood sugar to spike and then when it falls, I'm ravenous and eat more calories than I need. Does your surgeon's office offer any follow up support? Mine did... until I changed insurance. The staff at my surgeon's office were all wonderful. I'm now a member of Kaiser. I tried seeing a nutritionist about a year ago to help get back on track. I didn't trust her advice. She told me I should eat 800-900 calories a day for the rest of my life. She also scolded me for eating baby carrots and snap peas as a snack, but said it was perfectly fine to eat 3 cheese sticks in one sitting! Needless to say, I'm not going back to that nutritionist! -Tina
