I'm just starting out on my WLS journey, but I can tell you one thing I'm grateful for is that I've never been a big soda drinker. I drink unsweetened iced tea. And my favorite are the herbal flavored teas, like peppermint and peach, that are already decaffeinated. You can also get plain decaf tea, but in summer especially, I like the flavors. :) My suggested brand that's available in just about any big grocery store would be Celestial Seasonings, but there are lots of others.
What is everyone eating about a year post op. How many meals do you eat a day and how many ounces per meal? I am 15 months post op RNY and I find myself craving bad foods and I am hungry in between meals. I am eating 5 to 6 ounces per meal 4 to 5 times a day. I am also very active. I am getting in about 1200 calories right now a day. I had RNY 1/5/2015. SW 261.3. CW 117lbs. Height is 5.375 inches.
I like Pure Protein bars and Quest bars.
Actually....all of them
Any of them.
I only have trouble with too much sugar in any form....natural or added. It makes me pass out cold. Like....coma level sleeping.
But no nausea.
energy first is a great protein powder, it has 37 grams of protein and only 90 calories per scoop. It's a real soft, fine powder which mixes very well and it taste great. www.energyfirst.com

I agree with the above reply!! Get your doctor to run more tests. I would also start taking more calcium.

Early on it was boiled eggs and then I graduated to egg salad with cottage cheese Love it. At three months out I do scrambled eggs but I notice they make me nauseous now.
Did you have your parathyroid hormone level checked? When you are not consuming enough calcium, your body releases parathyroid hormone to leach calcium from your bones and maintain adequate calcium in your blood. This means that a calcium test will come back normal, so there is no way to know if you are getting enough calcium without checking your parathyroid hormone level or getting a bone scan to check for bone loss. Teeth are often the first to suffer when you don't get enough calcium, so that would be my first guess.
