I drank protein shakes pre-op, and I drink them post-op too. I like my morning breakfast shake. Just be sure to read the ingredients - it should be whey protein isolate and the carbs should be in the less than 5 range.

I did it guys! I am all done! It turns out i lost 10 pounds and i am all approved for surgery :) So my surgery for February 1 is on!!!
I think you should change your diet plan, and find one that is easier for you and more convenient for your life style. there are other weight loss program that may or may not work for you, try more eating green, for your busy day try to have drinks that would help you loos weight and keeps you energize at the same time. I been to a lot of weight loss program somehow i get frustrated, i change my diet plan instead and do all green and raw. even trying out green tea and also not all tea work for me except this Starter matcha that i tried and some banana and oats for breakfast and no dinner anything green at lunch.

All of this responses are wonderful and from the heart and personal life experiences before and after WLS.
I am in the early stages of nutrition classes and education, One thing that keeps coming to the forefront of every class or meeting is this: Knowledge without implementation is still failure. Its accepting where you are and OWNING it and fighting for Who you want to be.
Do you have a support system? A significant other, Mom, Sister, Church Friend? Someone who will be completely raw and honest with you to help you learn and deal with whatever your true issues are, and Please know, I am not judging you, I have issues, we all do, or lets be honest NO ONE would be over weight and Prescription Medication would not be needed. (Heal)th is Healing see where this goes?
We must LOVE our self enough to stand in that Mirror, Literal or figuratively and LOVE who we are.....I personally am struggling with this right now. But I am not willing to have surgery and fail.....set backs yes, struggles yes, but Failure NO. Mindsets have to be broken, you may have to walk away from Friends and maybe even a few family members......But we Must be willing to fight for Ourselves, No one can win this for us.
Please add my for a friend if you like I would love to offer support.

Hi everyone!
So I had DS in 2009. I was 450. Ended up getting to 180. 2 weeks ago I was 216. I ditched the carbs and got to 205. Now I'm 206. Is it possible I'm eating too much protein? I'm getting fristrated.
Very possible. Before I started loosing weight I would sporadically have low back pain, sometimes to the point where it would go out for several hours.
And for a long period of time, my sacroiliac joint would go out and I would have to go to physical therapy for it.
So far since I've lost I've had no issues.
I do a shake with 20 grams protein and 1/2 milk , 1/2 water.
i cant do much for breakfast.
