I wouldn't worry about calories while on the luquid diet... I would go with what you think tastes best. For me I find real milk more satisfying and have started to use the Fairlife as well.

My soft foods were mainly low fat yoghurt and cottage cheese, soft/moist chicken and turkey, flakey fish, scrambled eggs, smooth peanut butter, low fat cheese, cooked veggies (except corn, celery or asparagus), unsweeted applesauce, unsweetened oatmeal, cream of wheat, and grits.

I always find real milk the most tasty, but I use almond milk since its the lowest in calories. Lately I've been just using water or unsweetened tea to make some of the Syntrax protein blends.. You can spend more and get the Fairlife milk if you want which has 1/2 the sugar/carbs and 2x the protein of normal skim milk.
Another option is to spend more and get the Fairlife milk if you want which has 1/2 the sugar/carbs and 2x the protein of normal skim milk.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Sorry to hear about your surgery and weight gain. While I can't relate to a gain due to medical reasons (mine) is due to my own poor eating habits! I can say that your plan for giving up carbs and sugar is a great idea! You may also want to check into the 5 day pouch test as well. If your surgery was very recent I would really try to get in the protein as it also promotes healing. Good for you for being determined to get the weight off again before it is much worse! Best of luck
I will be starting my 2 week liquid diet of the the powdered Physicians Protein/Proti-VLC Smoothies, the ones with the packet of smoothie bases and the separate flavor packet. I have the choice of mixing them with skim milk, unsweetened almond milk, and unsweetened cashew milk. I am wondering which one gives the best flavor and/or makes the shakes more tolerable.
I'm a 26 female I'm 6 feet 2 and I weigh 423 and my lower back hurts it's fine when sitting but when I bend over or start doing stuff it bugs but tonight it really hurts is it because I'm fat ?
Hello all, it's been quiet awhile since I was an active member of obesity help.com. Here's my issue. I was 125lb. for years after my surgery (which was about 4 years ago.), I recently had to have my gallbladder taken out due to that face that if I didnt it may have ruptured. Anyways, soon there after, I began to gain weight rather quickly. even though I was eating just the same as before. Doctors cant explain why, although when I researched it, I found that the gallbladder was the organ than block fat. I went on ALLI, per my dr.'s choice, and it may helped me lose about 5lbs. I am 145, and am down an out as ever. What type of diet would be best suited for me to get my metabolism going and get these damn pounds off???? I need advice. I am determined now. I cant keep putting a diet on hold. I need, and want, to be 125 again. Even 130 would make me happy. I was thinking no carbs, no sugar, lots of protein, non fat milk for protein shakes, and plenty of water. Is that a good start?
Hope anyone can give me ideas or atleast motivation.
Thanks for reading this,
Angelic
My surgery is in a month I know I will be on a clear liquid diet for a while after surgery, then soft foods...
Im not only trying to mentally prepare myself, but also trying to buy what I need for future use. What are some suggestions on soft foods to eat? Recipes if u have them :)
Would love to get an idea of what I should be doing at that time!
TIA!
I obviously ate out a lot but I cooked at home a lot also and it was things like hamburger steak, lots of baked chicken, vegetables, steamed rice, once in a while I like tysons chicken fries baked with Mac and cheese. I can't eat any of that now or fast food. The dr says it's Bc I'm so far behind with protein that i just have to start eating even if it's not something I want to eat. When I hear that it makes me just want my stomach back so I can eat what I want. It's been so long it feels like with not feeling good that I would rather just be fat
Fast food is very hard on me post-op even six months out. Even good choices cause nausea for me (bunless stuff, etc) unless it's the more expensive and less processed kind. Fast food also has lots of filler sometimes, and is cooked in oil that's been used over and over for many other meals - it's highly oxidized. It's also been sitting around potentially, and so the bacteria count may be higher than food we cook at home. If you have a histamine intolerance, generally it's better to eat freshly made food versus fast food, and to not eat leftovers sometimes. I have horrible nausea and stomach pain if I don't freeze my leftovers now.
What were you cooking before you switched? What has the surgeon said about the nausea and being unable to eat?
