The most common one around here is probably Quest bars. Best protein to calorie ratio and pretty low on carbs (at least the sugary carbs). Pretty good tasting. I recently gave them up as they seem to trigger the nom beast that resides deep in my heart and comes out to eat all in its path.

I have tried a couple brands the first ones i got were cliff builders they have 20 grams of protein and i really liked them. At least i think they are ok to eat not first choice of course. it was suggested to me however that i should watch carbs more so i tried a brand called pure protein with 20 grams of protein and less carbs and i can't even finish one bar i hate them! I was wondering if anyone had some brands that they like that I can try? Figured better to ask then just randomly buy stuff i won't eat.
thanks!
too much of that gives me headache. To much splenda - I itch like crazy.
I just avoid foods drinks with that. It can be done.
the only one I so far has not issues with is saccharine. The actual studies that show it causes cancer are very old and they could not replicate that in humans. to and that does not cause me to have cravings... I still use that sparingly.
drinks - I drink herbal teas, naturally flavored water (fruit infused) , coffee, and water..

For most breakfast I eat a greek yogurt and add a small amount of diced walnuts or even extra fresh fruit. If I'm extra hungry I will make a raspberry/baby spinach smoothie. Early out after my surgery I would only have a carnation breakfast drink with my protein powder added in.

For me personally, I have to follow low carb eating due to the fact that eating carbs makes you crave carbs just as eating sugar makes you crave sugar. Carbs may not necessarily cause stalls or even weight gain, but it will cause you to want them more and who wants to deal with cravings? Just my opinion.

I have been thinking I need to plan my meals out ahead of time also. As much as I would like to plan and prepare them all out on Sunday for the whole week, I know I would not be able to stay dedicated to that long term. But to plan a days meals out the night before is a great idea I think. In the beginning after my surgery I did not plan meals but I did set a clock to tell me when it was time to eat/drink. I think I also need to go back to that. I find myself eating more often (grazing). Finding foods to snack on has always been my biggest challenge.
I lived off of stage 1 turkey in turkey broth baby food, beech nut brand, mixed with 1 tsp lite mayo. It was hard to find, though. Only Kroger had it here. (I was told not to eat the stage 2 meats, which are in gravy.)
I also cooked some turkey chili w/kidney beans and puréed it.
What is your surgeon's plan? Are you suppose to be on low carb or low calorie or what? You should discuss whatever you are doing with your nutritionist. Different things work for different people.
I plan my meals weekly. On Sundays I cook all my breakfasts and lunches to pack for work. This helps me to stay on track. I do not plan my weekends and that is when I tend to make bad choices.
You have to do what works for you.
