Topic: What are you eating/doing Monday?

Look at me - made it to the gym on a Monday morning!! It's going to be a good week! Back on the Protein Pony though!! I have been eating things I know that I shouldn't. My weight is in check but I know that it wouldn't take too long for it start creeping up if I keep up with this rogue eating! So enough is enough.

We had a relatively good weekend of camping although I don't remember how many times I had to change my clothes on saturday because Momma Nature couldn't make up her mind. We did get a pretty wicked storm with hail on Saturday afternoon but it did clear up in the evening so we could have our bonfire.

B - 2 egg cups

S - celery and PB

L - beer can chicken - white meat

S - meat stick, cheese

D - chicken breast with sauteed peppers and onions with cheese and sour cream

Have a great Monday everyone. (I know, easier said than done).

One thing I recommend to people starting this journey is to purchase and use a Smart Scale that pairs with your fitness device. I have found that having access to the additional metrics gives me very valuable information.

When there is a gain or loss, I also look at whether there is gain or loss of water weight, bone mass, or body fat. I used to guess a lot. I would see the scale go up and think about how much sodium I had consumed. I was surprised to see that often the water weight is less than the day before.

By knowing exactly what is going on with my weight, I can make more educated adjustments quickly and also know whether or not to worry about changes on the scale.

Make sure that your new scale measures body fa****er percent, muscle and bone mass. Expect to pay $100 - $150 for an investment that will serve you for many years. There are less expensive scales available, but they do not have the features that will make a difference to you.

Monitoring those numbers along with my weight has helped me immensely.

Thanks to everyone *****plied. I saw the surgeon this past week & we have re-booked the surgery for September.

In my particular case, it is uncertain if my liver can withstand the RNY, and won't know until they see the liver. NAFLD - didn't appreciate how dangerous this can be. Gastroenterologist told me he often has patients talk about being afraid/worried about having gastric bypass, but not one has yet expressed the same level of fear in regard to health consequences of NAFLD.

I balked at the May surgery b/c up until the appointment to sign the consent I had been totally focused on RNY being a "cure" for any hunger issues and I had really been counting on the appetite suppression piece. As the surgeon correctly pointed out, both procedures are tools to help me manage a chronic illness [ just as a person would need tools to manage other chronic conditions like diabetes, parkinsons etc.]. It has helped immensely for me to readjust my thinking in this regard. Obesity is a chronic condition that cannot be cured, but it can be managed using various tools.

I'm focused on high protein eating, exercise and weight reduction to help my liver along before the surgery. I've purchased a FitBit and an app to help me track eating. I'm journaling and trying to push myself out of my comfort zone to begin swimming again.

Topic: Over the 100 pound weight loss now!

Just wanted to share my excitement to finally make it over the 100 pound weight loss! - I've 38 pounds to go, to reach my goal of 160.

I'm still feeling worried it will all suddenly stop, but I keep reminding myself I am following plan - I even could not avoid a lunch out at work yesterday and made the best choices from what was available - protein - grilled, veg, no carb, and sauce on the side.

Then ended up taking my boys out for dinner to celebrate a milestone for one of them - again, Protein, veg, no carb (restaurants seem to be use to this no carb request, as they said absolutely and substituted extra veg for me)

For both meals I ate 1/2 and asked to take the rest home - ended up with 4 meals total - and lost 1 pound this morning.

Anyhow, I just keep chugging along - some times it takes 4-7 days for even 1 pound to come off, and then its 1 pound every day or too - very odd how the body works!

I keep walking as much as possible, that seems to kick start the loss if its stalled for a few days.

Still surprised when I see my reflection when I'm out and about - I have to pause to realize that's me!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sunny

you will feel like shyt and hear the water literally dump into your intestines. Your tummy will hurt and you will run to the washroom where you will wait and push and wait for the inevitable to happen. When it does happen, it will happen with ferocity and you will be at the mercy of your intestines. You will wonder why you succumbed to the urge to eat junk food in the first place and you will tell yourself it was not worth it. You will feel like such crap that at times you will feel like you have to vomit. You will even throw your iphone aside and rest your head in your hands with your elbows on your legs (if the smell doesn't knock you out already). Then when it's over you will feel really thirsty and you will thank God it's over. Then you will probably look inside the toilet to inspect what you just gave birth to and see the fat floating at the top. Then as you leave the washroom, you will leave the fan on and shut the door behind you because you want everyone in your home to stay alive. The moral of the story is: Don't eat junk food, especially early in the morning when your intestines are empty.

It's usually a quick dinner thing... We get the jarred sauces and toss in something like peas or carrots. You barely notice the chickpeas :)

Happy Friday everyone. I didn't get out for my walk last night due to a downpour so I'm hoping today stays sunny and I'll go further than usual. There are no big plans this weekend but since my son will be gone, I am hoping my bestie and I can get together and maybe do a day trip somewhere.

QOTD: Hmmm staying on the PB theme.... I like bacon and PB together ;)

B - greek yogurt

S - cheese stick

L - chicken, lettuce, mustard wrap

S - 1/2 protein shake

D - TBD

S - turkey pepperettes

Interesting idea for lunch Meg,, I have never been a big chickpea person but maybe with some spice I'd like them more.
