Topic: RE: Postponed my surgery

I feel you should trust the surgeon's judgement and do what they recommend. They are educated and have the experience. Either way, you still need to do the work after surgery.

I haven't had surgery yet, but it was discussed at the orientation that it is up to the surgeon as to what type of surgery they decided is best for you.

Wishing you luck.

Topic: RE: Veterans: How do you keep it off and avoid regain?
  • Hello !

What a surprise to see my name

in your post! How flattered I am too!

I am heading on to 13 years post op in July so I?m getting up there. Haha.

At 2-3 years out I gained back 20 lbs and I was devastated. I was even told that I was a failure for on this very board. It made me feel like I was a total failure.

Regain is NOT failure. It does not mean you?ll gain all your weight back. It means you have stuff to deal with and things to learn. We are living post op life in a way that is the complete opposite of our preop life. That?s hard especially when you have underlying eating disorders and head issues that you need to deal with.

I go up and down on the scale. I try different things to renew my journey at different times. Right now I?m into meal planning and portioning. It?s working for me well. I?m getting back on my treadmill. I religiously stay connected to the wls community through online groups, conferences and support groups. I have people in my online feeds that inspire me. Asking for help from your centre is good.

You have to start by giving yourself grace and trying to do better one day at a time. Find people that inspire you. Reach out and talk about the regain!! Feel free to message me if you ever want to talk I?m not going to type everything here but will gladly go into more in social media and or email I gladly support anyone through this journey who needs help or support Not here to sell anything just support

My 20 lbs has gone has high as 27 over goal. Right now I am 13 over goal

it will likely be a rollercoaster for life.

Love and hugs to you!

Dawn

Topic: What are you eating Saturday

Good morning all.

Enjoyed a lovely long walk with four legged family member in the "English" drizzle; lots of birds and worms out and a few doggie friends to stop and sniff.

Still working out what my meal plans are for this weekend, as I will be out at Hot Docs tomorrow.

Today I enjoyed my weekend breakfast treat and planning the rest:

B: 1 PC blue menu everything bagel with 1 egg and 1 slice cheese; coffee

L: salad with 1/2 can tuna, smidge of dressing and nuts on top

S: sugar free yogurt

D: Chicken thigh; salad; edamame's (fun to eat in the pod)

S: protein shake; Halo little orange - love those little guys!

Hoping to bake some protein bars/breakfast bars and little egg white omelets in muffin tins for quick protein fix during the week.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Sunny

Happy Friday all. I headed out for my walk right after work yesterday as the skies were dark and threatening. Hoping to get all the sticks in my yard cleaned up so we can cut the grass before more rain comes next week.

QOTD: Hmmmmm no I don't think I do any particular breathing technique but maybe I should...anyone who knows me knows I'm a very calm person in general but when someone pushes me to that "limit", WATCH OUT. I tend to just leave when I feel that limit being pushed.

B - greek yogurt, spoon of lowfat granola

S - 1/2 protein shake

L - chicken veggie soup

S - egg bite

D - roast chicken, cauliflower, parm

S - 1/2 protein shake

Good morning everyone one. Had a really nice meet up with a friend yesterday, early evening DH and I went for a ride with the top down. The weather was perfect.

Today I'm going swimming and then to the gym. I'll do some household drudgery for a while.

Accountability: On plan

QOTD: Have you ever practiced 4 sided breathing when you are about to lose it with someone? Sometimes it works, sometimes not. There is a particular city official that pushes my buttons.

The eats today at 4 years 9 months post-op are:

B. Buckets of decaf

L. Crab salad or rotisserie chicken salad (whichever I can find in Costco) in half of an avocado

D. Taco beef salad with salsa, sour cream, avocado

S. Maybe a mug of homemade chicken broth before bed.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Ok, it's a deal. If I win the $50 million I will split it with you and Meg. No one should have to endure endless housework and paperwork.

Topic: RE: Question re: Hair loss! For those post-surgery -

I have not noticed that it is growing back but in all honesty it's kinda nice to have thinner hair for a change. I will enjoy it while it lasts as I'm sure it will start growing back in soon.

Thank you - it confirms what I've heard .. it is almost an inevitable result of the surgery :(- is yours starting to grow back in?
