Congrats and welcome to the Loser's Bench! The gas is no joke and can be painful - just keep walking around and that should help get rid of the gas. I don't remember trying oatmeal so soon after surgery? I think it was a few weeks before I had anything that heavy. Just take it slow and easy and don't push yourself to finish your portions. Some people don't struggle at all and others have a very hard time getting in your portions at first. Give yourself a break - you've been through alot and your body needs time to adjust to all the new changes. Best of luck!!
Good morning everyone, and welcome to your weekend. No exercise again today, I'm staying home with my conehead kitty to make sure he doesn't bump into walls.
QOTD: What are some fish recipes that you like? This ones for you Meg. I saw this on TV once, tried it and liked it. Take a white fish (cod, halibut, haddock) make a paste of chopped almonds, a little sriratcha, cilantro or parsley, a few drops of sesame oil. Put the paste on the fish and bake until done. The toasted almonds and Asian flavours are yummy.
The eats today at 4.5 years post-op are:
B. Coffee, coffee, coffee
S. Protein coffee
L. Scrambled eggs with bacon
D. Taco without the shells, just all the fixin's - taco beef, shredded lettuce, cheese, salsa, sour cream, hot peppers.
S. Protein latte
Have a great weekend.

Good news that you are doing well. Don't try to finish a portion if you are feeling discomfort. There were so many times in the first few weeks where I would have to split the 1/4 cup serving a few times and reheat it for the next meal. The most important thing is to get your fluids in. Don't worry about the low calories, that's when our fat stores kick in to fuel us. You are doing great.

Hello everyone. It finally happened! Dr. Okraniec was wonderful. Surgery went well, no leaks that they could see. I was told I'd stay 3 days but was discharged the following day. I walked around a lil bit the night of and peed a few times. I was so sore and in pain but forced myself to walk around so it would help with the gases. I was told to stay and clear liquids yesterday and today I started the liquid diet. I woke up late as I could not get comfortable last night and wished I was back on the hospital bed where I could move it up and down at the touch of a button. Got lost of gas. I had oatmeal this morning. Found it too heavy and could not finish the 1/4 cup. Had one cup of premier protein shake for snack. Had 1/4 cup of mushroom soup strained with 1 spoon of protein and 1/4 cup of SF apple sauce. I feel so full. I guess it's because of my late start today. I feel I'm not getting all my water in. Hopefully I sleep well and I have an early start tomorrow and can get through eating everything I need to eat. I feel full all the time. Is that normal. I'm not sure if my belly hurts from being full or a mix or the pain from the incisions and gas. I've been walking around to help with it. Besides feeling full all the time, I feel fine otherwise. I'm hoping to do better tomorrow.
I inadvertently cheated. We were allowed certain vegetables and broth. Spinach wasn't on the list, but I was sure it was.
Every night for dinner I had steamed veggies with lemon and a touch of vinegar. Believe it or not, it was like heaven.
Anyway, I ate spinach every night for 2 weeks and I wasn't supposed to. I realized when I went to the clear fluids that spinach wasn't on the list. Yikes.
Turned out OK, no adverse effects.

I hated it too. I ended up adding peppermint extract to it. That made it bareable.
I know some people added orange chrystal light and said it tasted like a creamsicle. Some add coffee to it and a touch of sugar free chocolate syrup to make it mocha.
No matter what you do...it still sucks.

CC, I hope your kitty feels better soon...
Today I'm going to see a dietitian and go to the lab for blood work. Then we might go to the thrift store to look for a new (longer) fleece snowsuit for the little (long) nugget.
Tonight I'm making dinner, but chicken this time... No more fish adventures lol.
QOTD: I haven't been watching Netflix much, just a couple shows on cable -- New Amsterdam, the Good Doctor, and the Rookie. These days I would rather nap or lay in bed watching YouTube lol.
Post-op three years and eleven months.
Breakfast - protein bar
Snack - milk, nut bar
Lunch - turkey pepperettes, cheese
Snack - Greek yogurt and blueberries
Dinner - chicken and something
Snack - pudding
All water and vits.
why would anyone think about cheating??? it's 3 maybe 4 weeks out of your life to be given an opportunity for a new, healthier life... a NEW WAY OF THINKING about eating???
sure it's hard to cut out eating.. to stop the chewing process.. but look at the rewards in the end.. to get healthier!!!
i'm not pointing out that anyone is going to cheat but why even think about it in the beginning??
i just don't understand!
