Topic: Wharton Clinic - Has anyone else tried?

Although I'm also checking out revision surgery, my GP has referred me (and my family) to the Wharton Medical Clinic as well. (My daughter is still considered pediatric at 17 - they are booking into September(!) for that and she'll be 18 in October, so the WC booking person decided we should wait the extra few weeks and start her as an adult. She'll follow along with us on our journey in the interim.)

Anyway, my husband, son and I are joining the Wharton Clinic in Hamilton later this month. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with them and what your thoughts are. I have heard good things from a few friends, but would like more info.

Thanks.

Topic: What are you eating/doing today -- Thursday?

Good morning :)

This week has been nutters and my eating has gone sideways. Tuesday we had professional photos taken of the house. This meant spending five days going all out trying to get our house as perfect looking as possible. By yesterday I was totally done emotionally and physically. Then we lost the house offer...

Today I'm just going to take it easy and spend as much time with the little nugget as possible. I was going to run errands today but my car is a block of ice so I will wait until maybe tomorrow.

Post-op three years and eleven months.

Breakfast - kind bar

Snack - yogurt and fruit

Lunch - pork and rice

Snack - carrots and PB

Dinner - tbd

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.

Topic: RE: Back to the waiting game...

One of the first things I read and believed in when I just started out is what SweetRide says all the time...be your own advocate. I called every other day for cancellations, asked to be on the cancellation list and it got to the point where I showed up in person when folk weren't answering my calls. Humber has gotten a lot better with answering calls now I must admit.

You definitely know they have your file so you won't get looked over. I didn't start following up until 6 weeks after orientation as they told me that we should receive a date within 6 weeks. Apparently that timeline is now around 8 - 10 weeks from what I have heard.

SweetRide makes a great point in doing things that will help the process....that also worked in my favor.

All the best!

It's so hard when your doctor is not totally on board.

My doctor went through everything with me and even said if he missed any referrals just to let him know.

I have went through HRRH and did not need many tests done, only bloodwork and a couple of things at Dr Glazers. If you are in relatively good health not much should hold you up. They try to book your next group of appointments all in one day but the first call seems to take forever. My orientation was at the end of July and I could have had surgery in Jan, I had to put it off due to work. If you don't hear from them within 2 months I would call. Good Luck!

Probably not as you are just getting started but it's probably time for you to remember how long you have waited for this and you don't want to have more slip ups because you could ruin it.

The purpose of opti is to shrink your liver. I don't know what surgery you are scheduled to have but if it's RNY you need to be careful. If your liver is too big and they can't safely get to your stomach, then you will not end up with an RNY. You could come out of surgery with a VSG.

You've worked too hard to get to this point. Keep your eye on the prize - you are just weeks away from a new beginning. Stay the course because it's so worth it.

Do what you need to do.

Ugh, I know how you feel. I'm already so impatient. I can't imagine waiting 3 more months for a call.

its weird because I've seen people with late November orientations get appointments already on the Facebook group! You should keep calling and get on their butts!

I think they just have so many people to go through... and I have no idea why it's taking 3 months to get a call back for a simple appointment. It's insane.

I've already had my sleep study by referral from my family doctor and thankfully I did it because I have moderate sleep apnea and require a CPAP. I am going for my follow up test Monday and then get my prescription.

I plan on going to see my doctor for the bone density scan and bloodwork. Also going to see if he can test me for H. Pylori.

I think maybe I will wait a month and start calling to follow up in March. I know it doesn't happen quicker than that and I'm just going to **** them off if I start calling regularly now.

That being said, when I called Monday one woman said they didn't have me on record... which gives me a reason to call back tomorrow just to see if that's actually true or maybe she just didn't look up my info right.

I'm 8 days into 3 weeks of Optifast pre-op, and I had a slip up. I ate a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. I feel so bad about it, but I just couldn't resist. I'm hoping I haven't ruined my hard work! ?
