I didn't really need to much in the way of toilet seat, cane type stuff. For me it was assistance getting back into my undergarment, help with things that required lifting and bending over, no stairs and lots of pillows to get comfortable.
It took me a LONG time to finally pick a surgeon. I did a ton of research. The most important factors for me were finding someone that had really good reviews from people I "knew" from here and other online support groups and getting more than one proceedure done in the same surgery safely.
I'd recommend getting several consulations and talking with other patients. Just make sure you are REALLY comfortable with your decision.
Good luck!
The breasts were the easiest recovery. I did 5 consults. 3 specializing in WLS patients and 2 local but highly regarded. There were huge differences in prices that's why I kept on going. The last 2 were in the range I was thinking. Obviously I chose Dr Michaels and thought it was worth the travel. All the consults were an education and I absolutely realized I wanted someone who specializes. I always say the quantity and quality of our skin is different.

The Biocornium is around $100 for a 3.5oz bottle and that is supposed to do (1) 6" scar. I think if you're not terribly picky you could get a lot more mileage out of it. I actually haven't started using it yet.

Had anyone used the UT residency clinic(new surgeons learning)? I heard the prices are cheaper than private plastic surgeons because they are learning. How was your experience? How was your results? What was the prices of your surgery? Did they offer insurance as well?? I'm looking into this program but having a hard time finding any reviews.
My surgeon recommends Biocorneum which is FDA approved.

I appreciate your update! My new hobby seems to be reading other's experiences and trying to set my expectations to a realistic level fir my surgery in May.
My surgeon recommends Biocorneum. I think you get it from the plastic surgeon, so it can't be inexpensive. But he says it's the best silicone cream out there for scars right now. He suggests waiting 6 weeks after surgery to start using it.
I got these for my TT scar - I cut them in half lengthwise. I think they worked pretty well (my scar is very flat and pale now):
