Make sure you go with a board-certified PLASTIC surgeon and not a "cosmetic" surgeon. From what I understand, anyone can call him/herself a cosmetic surgeon...you find many of those folks in the "medical spa" settings.
And ditto on finding a surgeon with tons of experience with surgical weight loss patients, not just face & eye lifts.
Good luck to you!

I am assuming you said that because you are two days out and are on pain killers and don?t realize it came off harsh.
If there wasn?t some laxity of skin you couldn?t do essential things like sit down and stand up.
We tend to microanalyzer ourselves. Erin looks great. .

It's been a LONG time since I have been on this great site. My surgery was on 6/9/09 starting at 299 and losing 140. I had panniculectomy and butt lift done in 2011 but my surgeon moved.
I want ant to get my arms done but want a surgeon that has experience with good pictures. Is there a way to get recommendation on this site? I live in NE Ohio area (Cleveland,Akron,Canton)
I had an LBL and BL and only had 2.65lbs of skin removed. I had a 19 BMI and 19% body fat and was a size 4 before surgery but all those pants are falling off me. I really didn't think I'd lose any size either, but I definitely have. I actually sort of hoped I wouldn't because I was happy with my size and pretty much done with the buying new clothes because I have to (vs because it's fun). When I went home at 8 days post op I tried on a pair of my pants and they fit perfectly. I didn't think I was that swollen but I think I've probably lost 2" of or in my hips since then because I have much more slack in my belt.

Will be interesting to see if there is a clothing size drop for me. Though with only 2lbs of skin removed, I can't believe there would be. Plus with all this swelling it is so hard to imagine, my clothing size dropping. Though rationally I know it is not likely to go up after plastics.
Ao far pretty pleased with the results. Got a mini thigh lift I didn't expect.

How about some minor facial cosmetic surgery? did anyone here try that and what did you do for recovery and eveyrthing? I am scheduled to have surgery next week.
Yes, you will be swollen like that for a long time! I am still seeing a pretty consistent drop in my waist/hip size. My pants are huge, but I'm holding out until at least the 3-month mark before I buy new ones.

Yes, go to the PS and get a consult and their opinion. There is no reason to put yourself through 2 separate surgeries and 2 recoveries. Look on Realself.com for photos. If you have had babies, then the TT is probably a good idea, if not and your muscles are not in bad shape then the pann might be OK - but you still might want it done by a PS and not a general surgeon.
You should know terms like dog ears.
Find 2 Board cert PS and get into see them, preferrably at least one specializes in massive WL patients.
Best of luck with this part of your journey

I wore compression sleeves for 6 months and am very happy with the long term results (well, 21 mo post-op). With arms, the long term downside is visible scars. If your arms swell, that puts stress on the inscisons and will make the scars more visible.
I had my surgery in early July and needed A****il October. I got extra sleeves - one wash one on. Also, I had help - no stretching for 6 weeks - put everything from your cabinets on your counters, etc.
I had bi lat breast lift withOUT implants - lipoed fat from saddlebags to breasts - finished at a B-, which is where I always was.
So, some things to think about:
1- how extensive an arm lift. I needed the full zip - from 3 inches below elbow up, through armpit, and down about 6 inches to where the bottom on my bra band would be. I have NO sweat glands left or armpit hair - that is how much was removed.
2-I am a teacher, so early summer was my only option. If I could, the winter would be easier. Sweat is NOT your friend - until the tissue heals, sweat does not work its way to your skin surface, it fills in the area where tissue is damage and causes swelling. This is not so much an issue for the breast lift, because the scars are not visible.
3-you will need help for the fisrt week. I found a elec recliner on craigss list for

Yes, you can have pain meds - just no NSAIDS. Oxy, valium, tylenol.
