Afraid or obessed??
Hello. I am 10 weeks pregnant, and a 15 month out RNY patient. I have lost 164 lbs and very happy about that, of course. This pregnancy is my 4th but my first while being thinner. The 3 other times, I didn't really thought about the gain weight and all that comes with pregnancy. Besides I always lost weight while being pregnant anyway. Resulting of a weight gain of 2.5 lbs at my 1st pregnancy, 6 lbs at my second and 11 lbs at my 3rd.
Now, I have gained almost 5 lbs since I found out I was pregnant and it worries me.
I know that the recommended weight gain during pregnancy for average weight mothers is aroung 25 lbs. And even though my head is thinking it's reasonable and that I shouldn't be worrying about that....I still panick!!!
25 lbs!!!! Nothing tells me that will be what I will be gaining during this pregnancy, no one can predict that. But I still can't "accept" this fact.
I sure want what's best for my baby, I want him/her to be healthy and I will certainly not starve myself.....only I need to know what to do so I will not obsess or be afraid to gain necessary weight during my pregnancy.
Maybe some of you can reassure me somehow, by telling about your experience.
And I would like to know if it's possible that I would still lose weight.....what I mean is, if I keep on eating healthy and exercise during my pregnancy, could it be possible that despite the necessary weight gain, I could weigh less after I've had the baby, than what I weighed before getting pregnant?
I hope I don't sound too pathetic, or obsessive. Perhaps my concerns are normal as well.....I hope!

The 2 friends that I have that have had pre-and post- WLS babies 1 of them came home from the hospital weighing less then her pre-preggo weight (isn't breastfeeding) and another who came home just a few pounds up (and is breast feeding)
THe weight gain is scary but as long as baby is healthy and you are following good eating habits I am sure that you'll get it off in no time once baby comes!
I did eat healthy but junk was there too and most times in the begining that was all I could keep down. SO relax some and know you lost it once you can lose it again with some work
Good luck and congrats on all the weight loss and your pregnancy! Jarrid 10-12-98
