Monitoring progesterone and ??? about weight loss
My high risk OB has me on progesterone suppositories (50 mg twice every 12 hours). He put me on this because my 1st progesterone lab showed 17.5 and then 2 days later it dropped to 14.4. Well I just had my weekly progesterone lab drawn on Thursday morning after being on the suppositories for 1 week and it went up to 25.8. The OB was okay with this evidently and his nurse called to tell me that to continue taking the progesterone supp. the way they have had me doing. I asked if I would need to come back in on next Thursday morning to get another progesterone lab drawn to monitor me in case it drops again. She didn't even ask my OB and just said, Nope that won't be necessary. This worries me a little. I don't mind getting stuck every week and my Husband and I don't mind paying for the weekly lab draws, we just want to be safe. Shouldn't they be monitoring my progesterone if I am to take the suppositories until I am 12-14 weeks? I am currently 6 weeks today.
Also I have lost 3 pounds in the last week and a half. Is this normal in th ebeginning of a pregnancy? When will the weight loss stop or when shuld I be gaining? I am a little over 8 months post op. I am eating 60-80 grams of protein per day and I am eating whole grain breads, fruit, vegetables. I get in at least 1200 calories per day now. Just wondering if the weight loss is safe? I called my bariatric surgeon's office and the nurse didn't really have an answer. She just told me to get all of my vitamins, proteins, and fluid in. She alos told me to eat 1200 calories a day which I have been already.

They normally don't monitor progesterone once you get it up to stronger numbers (which your's is now). The suppositories will keep it up where it needs to be. I have actually never seen anyone get their progesterone monitored again after they get it up over 20.

I don't know about the progesterone but I can help with the rest.
Totally normal to keep losing weight in the beginning of your pregnancy. I am 3 1/2 years out and lost 15 pounds in my first trimester, slowly gained it back in the 2nd and I am at a 24 pound gain at 40 weeks. My OB and my surgeon were 100% OK if I lost weight / maintained during my pregnancy as long as labs were good and baby is growing away (which baby is).Your calories look good, you could stand to up your protein a bit to 90-100 grams and make sure you are getting in at least 64 OZ of decaf, non-carbonated fluids. You should also be getting about 100 grams of carbs.
Congrats and good luck!
