IUGR...high ris****il delivery...
i can tell you my story. my little girl started falling behind they noticed at 30 weeks. at by 34 week appt they noticed no progress (was still gaining but not at an average pace which is 200 g every 2 weeks), diagnoised me as IUGR so they checked me into the antipartum (section for hospitalized bedrest) and gave me 2 steroid shots and monitored her for 3 days with daily nsts. she was fine. reason for steroid shots was she had dropped below the 10th percentile which is SCARY to drs. so if they found anything wrong...the slightest thing on one of my twice weekly nst and every week doppler readings and every other week growth scans i would be induced immediately. thanfully nothing happened but me spending almost everyday in some drs office but since she was under the 10% they were going to induce at ful term or 37 weeks. that monday i turned 37 weeks my induction started. baby girl measured at the 6th % which is serious IUGR. she was born at 37 weeks 3 days at 4lbs 10oz 17 inches long and absoluetly nothing wrong with placenta. she was just a petite baby. now a\s of 2 months old dr visit on monday she weighs 9 lbs 10oz and 22 inches long with a 14 2/3rd head circumference. so dont get too worked up over IUGR because i found out after a lot of times its just a petite baby.
