hubby and I went to specialist yesterday to get our results from our tests.
we are TTC but we havent' been able to.
One of my levels is very low and dr is going to treat me now aggresively with pill and injections....
he only does this for 4 cycles... because after 4 cycles the probability is not better...

Just want to ask... I normally drink coffee in the a.m.  -- do you think that coffee might hinder getting pregnant?

I am trying to see what things I can do to give myself the better chances....

I have been an emotional mess since yesterday...everytime I think of this scenario I break down in tears.

Dr was not optimistic about IVF if this is aggressive treatment is unsuccessful.

I really don't know how to handle this situation... I am doing a lot of praying and thinking.
It is my biggest dream to be a mom and I feel like the window of opportunity is closing on me.

Thanks

I'm no pro, but I'd think one cup of coffee wouldn't harm your chances of getting pg...as long as you're not stuck on some other form of caffeine the rest of the day.  That said...Trying to switch to decaff, or drink decaff tea (or even one called Fertilitea or something like that - not sure of the spelling) wouldn't HURT...just not taste as good.

If you and your husband are willing/able to consider it, you could try donor eggs for IVF.  I am considering IVF myself...waiting for DH to return from visiting his family in a week or so, then we'll sit down and seriously talk about it...but because of cultural/religions reasons, won't be using donor eggs...but I'd  never bash anyone else for doing it.  Getting YOUR baby may come in a different manner/form than the average person.  Don't give up hope...just look for the other path to motherhood...all this, of course, assuming the upcoming treatments don't work.

Good luck.

May I ask which level is low? I know you are at your wits end and I will be praying for you. Here is what I found just doing a google search:

You may also want to cut back on caffeine. The research on whether caffeine can affect fertility is mixed. Experts generally agree that low to moderate caffeine consumption, less than 300 mg a day or about the equivalent of three cups of coffee, won't affect your fertility, but your doctor may recommend that you cut caffeine out entirely to play it safe.

I agree with the PP and also am curious to which level is low. I have issues with very low progesterone and when TTC my son and even after I found out I was preggo I was limited to little or no caffeine to include coffee, tea, soda and even chocolate. I think it all depends on you and your situation. Good Luck!

Hello...  honestly I don't remember the name of this determinant that is low for me.  I was so shocked at the results that this part didn't register on my mind.  What I know is that he is going to put me on the aggresive treatment of Femara, then Follistim injections, and then some other injection that is called Ova---something.  They gave me everything all written out with specific times of those days to take it.

I just pray that one of this cycles will be successful.  He did say (after hubby asked him several questions) that he doesn't think that IVF would be an option for us... very unlikely to be successful in my case.

I am 41 yrs old and he is treating me very aggresively since I also have a history of PCOS.
I am on Fortamet 2000 mg a day.

I just pray and I don't want to lose hope.

I am going to buy the two books that I have heard are good books.. the Take Charge of Fertility book and The Fertility Diet... (very curious about that one)...I want to do anything and everything I can.

About the caffeine I got a coffee that is decaffenaited and tastes great...

Thank you so much for your posts...

I'm going to take a wild guess and suggest that perhaps it's your FSH that's out of whack.  Your age is against you and your doctor's suggestion that IVF won't work is what leads to me that conclusion.  It's a hard, hard, hard diagnosis to handle!

I would suggest that you switch to decaf coffee.  It'll still give you the coffee flavour but without the impact of caffiene on your body.  My WLS surgeon recommends no caffiene after surgery anyways, so if you're post WLS surgery than I'd suggest you stick to decaf anyways.

HTH and praying that God will fulfill the desires of your heart!  Hugs!

Here is another link of some vitamins and natural rememdies that can help increase your chances of getting pg as well.  http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/howto.htm
