Thanks Ashlie! I should try going bra-less. I wear my nursing bra 24/7. And my nipples do get more sensitive wearing it. Maybe it will help. Worth a shot anyhow.

I took a breastfeeding class before I gave birth & the instructor told us that she wanted us to wear a bra as little as possible, go naked whenever you can, and never wipe your nipples, always let them air dry! I never leak so this isn't a problem for me so I always sleep naked on top to give my boobs a break! lol!

I went au natural for a bit and it did help! Now I've started leaking leaking from the breast I'm not feeding on and I had to go back to my bras.  But it's OK cuz that little time out of 'bondage' helped them a lot! Thanks for the advice!

i had the same issue and the cream didnt do much for me either, but the breast milk seemed to work wonders, it basically helped the scabs come off without pain, and now im making every effort to NOT let it happen again!
good luck!

I've been doing both, cream and rubbing the breastmilk on them. Then I did the braless thing and I'm looking at those breast shields. They seem to be getting better. I'm also anal about making sure her latch is good.

And thanks about the weightloss. I'm still amazed. I'm actually under my pre-pregnancy weight now. Pretty amazing...I would've never thought it possible.

Do they make nipple/breast sheilds anymore? My Mom was telling me that is what she used in the 70's. LOL. SHe said they were lifesavers because it was VETY painful otherwise even with creams. Not sure if this helps.

Have you tried switching your hold for that side.  Trying a football or another hold to have her latch on a little different, may ease up the repeated friction on the sore area.

God Bless! Jen

Thanks Jen! Yeah, I definitely think I favor the football hold. I am trying to work on getting her into other positions more. The regular cradle hold just doesn't work for us. I do the cross cradle hold though and that seems to work ok. It's just hard to get her to latch on the first, oh, say, 10 times we try...LOL Daddy has to help keep her hands out of the way because she's too busy trying to chaw (yes, chaw...lol Guess only a Texan could understand that word......and I don't even know if it IS a word....LOL) on her hands. And then when we DO get her hands out of the way, she tries to just lick the thing like it's a lollipop....LOL It cracks us up. Or she'll try to latch on and do this really weak suck that has no suction....she just doesn't like to open her mouth wide enough. Either that or my boobs are too floppy....I don't know WHAT it is. We'll get it though.....hopefully....LOL She's still little bity and learning so hopefully when she realizes she's hungry and that milk comes out of that "lollipop", she'll open big and latch on good if she wants some chow! lol

I had the same sort of issue with very tender and scabbed over nipples because I let Felix nurse too long - I guess I didn't hear the nurse properly when she said "10 minutes on each side"... Anyway, it got so bad that the only thing I could do was suck on an ice cube while he latched on - once he was on and into a deep suck, it didn't hurt as much.  I also went back to the 10 minutes on each side and used Lansinoh like it was going out of style.  It took about 3 days and my nipples were healed up.  Good luck!

Thanks! I need all the luck I can get.....LOL I have a pretty good flow so she can go 15-20 minutes on each side. I also kind of "pump" on different areas of my breast as she's nursing so that ALL of my breast can get emptied out.....cuz I got mastitis with 2 of my other children that I breastfed and I'm fairly sure it was from my breasts not getting emptied properly and eventually clogging and getting infected. Hopefully I won't have that problem this time. *crossing my fingers* I was also pre-op with those babies and had a lot of extra weigh on me and couldn't really get the babies in a great position for them to be able to empty those parts out either. Man, mastitis is awful! lol
