Pregnancy Eating after Bypass

Hey everyone!

I am 5 months pregnant and had my surgery a year ago in June.  I am a tad concerned because it is taking more (or seems to be) to fill me up than it used to.  I don't want to stretch my pouch but I also want to make sure the baby is getting enough..So am I crazy?  Is it all in my mind?  I've only gained about 8 pounds but that was in 2 weeks!  Any advice?  This is my first child so I'm kinda winging it lol.

Thanks,
Debra

When I was earlier in my pregnancy I could heat more. Now I have to eat every 2-3 hours due to blood sugar issues but I also know that I am not eating much each time. The baby is squashing what little stomach I have.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and am 3 years post op.  I have found that at certain times in my pregnancy I felt restriction like I did right after surgery.  Then sometimes I can eat a lot more.  I still can't really eat as much as someone who hasn't had surgery.  I haven't gained a pound since I got pregnant.  Sometimes when I go to my appointment I gain a pound and then once I lost 6 pounds.  The baby so far is were is should be on her size and weight.  So, the way I handle it is if I am eating healthy food I eat as much as I can.  The days I feel like I have a lot of restriction I just try to eat more often.  Some days I have no appetite at all but I make myself eat.  I just eat healthy snacks and watch my protein intake.
Hope that helps

I feel like I can eat a truckload of food. According to my nutrionalist, I am still okay, and just to watch my choices. Another thing I have found, is I am so thirsty all the time, I drink with meals and such. My thirst is incredible. I have never drank this uch water in my life. I think that makes a difference too.. makes my pouch empty and so on. The nutrionalist feels this is all due to hormones and will correct itself after the pregnancy. Hope she is right!

We are very much in the same boat on this one!  I am 18 weeks with my first and all I want to do is eat!  I work out to offset the calories but am more worried that I am going to stretch my pouch.  I think about it constantly and it drives me up the wall!  Just know that you are not alone!  Everyone keeps telling me to just make sure I am making the right food choices (which is hard when all I want is a peanut butter cups).  Good luck to both of us!

im still earlier.. but I am eating more sometimes than I used to. Im often more hungry, and sometimes am amazed at how I can finish my whole english muffin sandwich for breakfast now, instead of the 3/4 i used to eat before. I am more concerned for my baby's welfare than my own pouch right now. I want to make sure they get enough food.. vitamins and protein. I can worry about ME later.. i can loose the weight again, i can work hard and do it! :)

Angie,

That's kind of the way I feel too!  Although I woke up this morning and somehow had lost 3 pounds...I guess I was retaining water and didn't even know it lol
