Playpen vs bassinet
It seriously is a Mother's choice! Everyone is different on how they may feel. When we brought our son home at two weeks old (he was at that time our foster baby) I didn't feel comfortable unless he was in my room. To be honest before becoming a Mom I was all about not having the baby in our room either. After bringing him home my whole thought about it changed. Maybe being a first time Mom, maybe being that he was our foster baby, I don't know. I wanted to be able to hear him breathe, and I wanted to get to him quickly. He was also born with cataracts and had had two surgeries at 9 and 10 weeks old so I think I may have been more cautious anyways. We had a bassinet and he slept in it until he was almost 3 months old. Afterward I had Hubby bring his crib down stairs to our room (helps if you have a bigger master bedroom) and he slept in our room until he was a little over 5 months old. We then transferred him to his nursery with his crib. We had no problems. We plan on doing this with the new baby as well. Every child is different also so we might transfer the new baby sooner or a little later. Just depends on how we feel. No choice is wrong and no choice is right. One thing I have learned with parenting is everyone is going to have their opinions and they will gladly share them with you. LOL. Do what is right for you, your Hubby, and your new little angel. My Hubby and I did look into the pack n play bassinet, but then we just realized the bassinet worked just fine for us the 1st time anyways so we figured, "why try to fix the unbroken?" Enjoy your picking out things for your registry! We find out what we have in less than 3 weeks, so I'm gonna start then and I am sooo excited!
I used my Bassinet for quite a while with my first daughter and am reusing it with this baby. I really liked it. I could keep her close at night and at the bottom it had some storages for diapers and wipes. I also loved my pack and play. We have a boxer and it was great for keeping the dog away when the baby was older. My suggestion is to use a bassinet and buy the cheap back and play with no bassinet attachment. You can usually pick up a pack and play cheap if its simple. You will find a lot of those extras they charge you more for you really don't need.
I loved my pack n play with the newborn sleeper bassinet attachment. For me it was very safe, and there was a vibration option on the side so you can just roll over and press the button. Sage slept in the newborn sleeper until she was 8 weeks and then in the bassinet until she was 3 months. Now she sleeps in her crib. I loved it,
