When did you have Braxton Hicks?

How far along were you when you had your first Braxton Hicks?

I think I had my first one last night.  OMFG.  I was sitting on the couch eating dinner, and when I went to get up, I got the SHARPEST cramp in my lower right abdomen, kind of like a period cramp.  It only lasted about 5 seconds, but good god!  Then I had another one a couple of hours later.

I thought that there was no freaking way that it could possibly be Braxton Hicks, but then when I read my "What to Expect" book, it said that some people get them starting around 12 weeks.  I had no idea that you could get them that early.  Everyone I've asked says that I'm nuts and it must have been something else.

I started braxton hicks around 14 weeks with my second my first was well over 20 weeks. To me it sounds like round ligament pain! They are very sharp and in your lower abdomen. I feel my brazxton hicks in my whole uterus. They don't hurt....just really tight! Your uterus gets very tight! I hate round ligament pains. Mine get pretty ouchy now! That and feet in my ribs! No fun!!

Yeah, I can't say that I am really looking forward to having feet in my ribs, either!  LOL!

What you're describing sounds more like round ligament pain.
Braxton Hicks rarely hurt or are painful, it's more of a muscle tightening/relaxing. Towards the end of pregnancy they do get more intense.

If it was a BH, make sure you're getting plenty of water, dehydration can cause them/make them worse.

That definitely sounds more like round ligament pain. I had BH around the middle of my 2nd trimester and throught the rest of the pregnancy whenever I was dehydrated or was walking around too much. You feel them over your entire belly.

Yep, I agree with the other ladies here. Round ligament pain. Be more deliberate and slow with your  movements.

I started feelings braxton hicks contractions pretty early. around 10-12 weeks. They say some women have them from the very beginning, but may not notice them. Some never feel them during the whole pregnancy. Just feels like a tightening and the belly gets kind of hard.

Take Care,
Kina

I only really started noticing B-H contractions around 25 or 26 weeks.  It feels like you're pushing out your belly - everything gets really round and hard but it doesn't hurt. I usually get them when I've been walking around a lot.
