Pregnant RNY'ers, I have a question about acid reflux.
This is my 5th pregnancy. I had RNY in 2006. I have been having horrible nausea and dry heaves as well as vomitting. The dry heaves are extremely painful, and it happens over and over and over. For several days I have had the sensation that someone has poured acid down my throat and the pain goes all the way down my esophagus. It reminds me of when I had severe acid reflux before my bypass. It hurts to even swallow water!
I have not had acid reflux since my bypass. I didn't even think it was possible for acid to reach my pouch now. Has anyone experienced this or anything similar? Can we have acid reflux after RNY? Any tips, or suggestions to stop this horrendous pain that I am experiencing?
Thanks in advance!!

I really don't know if we can have acid reflux or not. I was under the impression that we couldn't. I do know I have my own type of heartburn now (old wives tale is this means the baby will have lots of hair) where I just feel like food is ready to come up when I am in bed. No acid, just food. Not really fun let me tell you. I would ask your WLS about it. They would be the best one to know.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I get my own brand of 'heartburn'. It is an incredible pain in my brestbone going from back to front... almost like when you first had surgery and you ate something wrong. Sometimes a bit of toast helps, sometimes milk, and on occasion I just suffer through. Happens mostly at night when I am lying down.
