I'm renting one of those fetal heart dopplers from the internet (babysheart.com is what I used) and have been listening to his heartbeat since the first day of week 10. A little hard to find at first, but you get better at it, and of course, he/she gets bigger. But I did the same thing you want to, I recorded it on my cell phone. It's still there....
