hello i have some questions....im 18 months out and im at my goal weight down 150lbs :) anyways i already have 2 kids ages 4 and 6 but we have been thinking about having another one but im very worried about gaining all the weight back ( i really dont want to be selfish) but i would like to know during the preg. do you have to take diff. vit. and have more labs then normal also what would happen if i didnt take all my vit. or something every single day? right now it is hard for me to remember everyday but i try my hardest. also after the baby is it super hard to loose the weight again? i work out 5 times a week for at least 30 min and i LOVE working out now ( i know crazy huh who would of thought lol) anyways does you stomach strech back out to like it was before the surgery? idk i guess im scared that if i have another one ill end up back to my old self even if i am careful BUT i would really LOVE to have another one.  oh i forgot i had the RNY.....thank you

I was 22 months out of surgery the first time I got pregnant. After 3 kids in 3 years I have 40 lbs to lose to get back down to my lowest weight. Not to shabby considering that my son is only 6 weeks old. I am still 125lbs less then when I had surgery. I was still smaller when pregnant then at my heaviest at 365. I actually lost all of my baby weight plus 40 after my first before getting pregnant with my second (my first was 14 months). I was within 15 lbs of my lowest before getting pregnant when my 2nd was 4 months old (SURPRISE).

I had a problem with iron and am trying to catch up now. I have to be honest with you - I took vitamins every single day with my first, with my second probably every other day and this last time barely at all. I am not proud and should have made a better effort - however my babies are all perfectly healthy - and surprisingly enough all of my vits except my iron are ok. That being said every person is different so that scenario may not work out the same for someone else. Looking back I wish I could kick my own ass.

It sounds like you stay on top of if so you should be fine. Honestly I gained more then I had planned this last time because I was using my pregnancy as an excuse to go wild - once again, if I could go back in time to kick my own butt..... I probably would have only gained 25 lbs instead of 45 if I had behaved myself!

I also have a 4 and 6 year old!
Were going to have our third in about ten more days lol
So far I have gained between 20 and 25 pounds. Depends on the day lol

I find that I AM able to eat a lot more but again that also depends on the day too!
I will let you know how difficult it is to get back down to my goal weight that I had just hit before finding out I was preggo! :-)

Hello,

I too had RNY and I was 3 years out from my surgery when I finally got pregnant. I took all my vitamins as suggested and Jakob was fine. As for the weight I gained about 20 lbs during the pregnancy and I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight (Jakob is 4 mos. old) I might add that my clothes still don't fit me, there was obviously some reorganizing of the fat LOL, but I guess I can't ask for more than that. Hope things go great for you.

I was 16m out from surgery RNY, when I got pregnant the 1st time.  I gained 30lb and was back at goal by the time she was a year old.  When she was 1.5 I got pregnant again and gained 28lbs.  She's pushing 2 now but I'm 4lbs away from goal again.

As for the vitamins...I did 2x the normal prenatal, ate something every 2ish hours and had labs drawn midway through my pregnancy.  I was treated like any other OB patient except for the diabetes testing.  I'm quite sensitive to sugar and dump over 10g so my doc ordered a fasting glucose and a 1 hr post prandial (1 hr after eating a normal meal).

GL in making your decision!
