shower gift...input from new moms?
I love making gift baskets. I have a baby shower for a relative coming up. Trying to think of something new and different, along with picking something off the registry. Ladies, (preggo's and new mom's) what do you think of this idea? Would you appreciate something like this? Or anything you think I should add or take away, feel free to input.
New Mom Survival Kit (items placed in wicker basket & covered with pink netting)
sensitive skin laundry detergent
shower gel
foot scrub
hand lotion
coffee
lysol spray??
panty liners with wings? (or is that too personal)
Any ideas?

How about instead of Lysol, put in a very large container of hand cleaner - so that visitors can clean their hands? I'd skip the panty liners - they are a little personal. Maybe w/the coffee (or tea), I'd get a girly-looking mug (or if you could find a 'new mommy' one it'd be good too)..or even if you can find one - one of those little teapots that fit into the tea cup? They're small...the pot holds I think two cups of tea? but they're cute together - looks like just a tea pot. Hopefully you know what I'm talking about. If you know that she's going to try to breastfeed, is there some sort of cream to put on the nipples to keep them from cracking? if you're doing the shower gel, foot scrub, etc...maybe something like that would fit in that category?
Baskets are fun to put together. Have fun!

Mom to Khaled
sensitive skin laundry detergent -- sure
shower gel -- I'd say bubble bath or other bath products for soaks while daddy watches the LO
foot scrub -- Most moms wouldn't have that much time (at least I didn't). How about a face mask for that occasional bath daddy allows. lol
hand lotion -- or sanitizer sound great.
coffee - Can you have that while BFing?
lysol spray?? -- Mmmm not sure about this one. How about shower to shower or body/hair freshener spray for the mommy who gets spit up on or what have you while out and about.
panty liners with wings? (or is that too personal) -- Don't think I would like that at a public shower. Might be embarrassing for some mothers, or a reminder of the pain she will go through for others.
Any ideas?
Baby meds (Tylenol, Mylicon, etc) are often needed, yet rarely given as gifts.
After baby stretch mark cream might be ok, depending on the mother.
A gift cert for a motherhood store to help with nursing supplies or belly bands.
Champagne and Chocolate for the after baby toast. Or even just some chocolate. lol
Calming music for the crazy moments and perhaps a popular magazine she likes.
Hope I gave you some interesting ideas.
Good luck. Hope she likes it.

Seriouselly what about a gift cerfiticate for a night of babysitting after the baby is born, or for a day of going over to do laundry, mow the grass and what ever needs to be done. I bet she would love that.I personally would not mind the pads because the ones the hospitals give you are thick and they have no sticky side so I brought my own so I would put those in there.
Those are all good ideas too, but she lives 2 hours away, and I am not that close to her (she is a cousins wife I see maybe 2x a year). Hopefully her friends and family will pitch in in that aspect. If she were like my sister or something I would definitely throw a small package of wings panty liners in there, because that is not the stuff you think of until afterward when it's 2am and you are getting tired of those diapers between your legs lol.
Hey there, I like the idea of the Lysol and pantyliners ... those were must haves that I did not know I would LOVE having. And, in our family, nothing is too personal. I would include a container or tucks with a post it to keep it in the fridge for after delivery ... no one tells you how great those things are! Oo ... and maybe a little cotton nightie for easy BFing from Target or something ... I wasn't prepared for that.
dermoplast spray was the BEST thing a friend could have told me about! You can either spray it on the pad or right on yourself and it numbs things so it is more comfortable. GODSEND!
I love the idea of the hand sanitizer. I would say if you aren't that close to her the pads are probably too personal. Maybe a "shopping list" of things she would want to bring to the hospital written on pretty paper and rolled up. A pair of comfy slippers, a nice robe. All great ideas for a fall baby.
