Sugar substitutes?
Ok so I had RNY I'm diabetic and now pregnant. So carbonation is out because or RNY even if I wanted it, it has Aspartimine(however u spell it). Tea has caffeine and I drink decaf but everything I try to sweeten it with I'm told is bad. Even crystal light has aspartimine. So what the crap can I drink. I'm not a huge plain water fan. I'm a big sweet and low fan but was told that's the worst sweetner during pregnancy. HELP I'M LOSING MY MIND!
My OB said that it is not proven that aspartame effects the baby and that it is OK in moderation. I am not a dumper though and I do not even want to chance it with the aspartame, so I do sugar or Splenda. Just my choice, even though my OB is a high risk doctor and deals with a lot of Diabetics, I still don't trust the artificial stuff!
Thanxs everyone I just want to do this right and everything thats low carb seems to be artifically sweetened. It seems I can't win for losing. I'm going to a diabetic and pregnancy class Wednesday that my endocrinologist recommended but my surgeon says its not diabetic, rny, and pregnant. I'm at a loss trying to do my best.
