How common are false positives?

So, here is what happened, first day of my last peroid Dec 5, ovulation Dec 17 18 19, BD all three days. I'm a year post TT so my belly is really tight from that still and lately ive been feeling tightness down low, just thought I was imagining things or putting on holiday weight, today when helping put away tubs of christmas decorations and lifting heavy boxes I realized that i might be overdoing it just in case, so just mostly for kicks I went in the house and took  HPT one of the digital ones. I kept telling myself that it was going to be negative, because if nothing else it's should be too soon, but low and behold it said in big bold letters..."Pregnant". So i'm excited but im worried it could be a false positive, I intend to do another in the morning and then call my Dr. if it's also positive but I was wondering how likely a false positive even is...any insight is appreciated!

False positives are very rare, especially when using a digital.  Usually what happens (if it is not an evap on a 'line' HPT) when you get a positive then your 'period'.... it is a very early miscarriage.  I took 5 tests this PG (was trying to get PG but it happened) because I didn't believe it.

Definitely take another one as planned and call the Dr either way.  How late are you for your period?  I'm assuming that the Dr's will ask so you may want to say a week.

Good Luck & Congrats!!!!

I was not late for mine, and I took a digital, and it came up positive. The only thing you have to worry about is that the doctors urine test always are farther behind, so make sure to have a blood test!

False Positives are a in fact VERY rare on digital more than regular! I had the same fear that it was a false pos, and was scared that the next morning test would be negative! Test in the morning, and GL!

I would say you are pregnant.  I was the same way.  I took a test just to see in October, since my period was late, even though I was on birth control pills and it said "pregnant" too.  I ran here and posted the same thing about false positives and was told basically the same thing you are.  And I am definitly pregnant.  Good luck to you!!

The wanted me to be at least 7 weeks so they can actually see something on an ultrasound! So here we go again! it's been 5 years since my son so this is all seems new to me, and it still feel a little sureal. I guess it will sink in eventually!
