I feel like crap : (
I have not posted in awhile. I am 13 weeks pregnant. I am nauseous / puking (still losing weight). I saw a high-risk specialist because of the fact I had RNY a year ago. My blood work has all been good (I have gotten it taken 3x in the past year) but was put on extra iron supplements, for the iron storage. My body can't handle it. I get even more nauseous (more puking) and the constipation is unbearable.
Last night I had the most horrible stomach cramps. I don't know if it is something I ate or because I cannot poop (sorry, TMI). Stool softeners (which I try to take) give me stomach cramps and gas but I am hoping it will allow me to poop.
Food also has no appeal. I am nauseous when I am hungry and nauseous after I eat, thus food is not exciting anymore.
Ehh I just want to feel normal! Not sure what is going on with my stomach...the specialist was telling me about being on the look out for a hernia or something of that nature (some rare complication)
To top it off, my blood pressure is on the low side, 100 over 60. I am dizzy anytime I get up.
Feel free to add your experiences.
I do have one son that is almost 4 and I was horribly sick during that pregnancy, but that was well before gastric bypass.

My OB let me just use Slow FE instead of the prescription iron, and it really cut down on the nausea and constipation associated with it. it also helped to mainly take it at night. In the meantime, try to do as much to prevent the constipation as possible, get lots of water and add benefiber to your food or liquids.
If the nausea is really keeping you from eating and keeping your supplements down, ask for some zofran!

Benefiber was the best thing I did during pregnancy. Start slow and work your way up to optimum dose. If you start with more than 1/4 teaspoon, you might get terrible cramps. ( I thought I was going into labour) but once on it, I was regular like clockwork.
Just make sure its benefiber, some of the other cheaper brands don't work at all.

I just wanted to say I hope that you are on the road to feeling better soon. I know my Dr put me on iron and it made my GI system unhappy- I actually got the runs verse constipation. I had to stop taking it, but my iron wasn't dangerously low or anything. I also had stomach / GI issue the whole time I was pregnant, I assumed it was from everything being squeezed in there. I was wrong- I had a horrible internal hernia. My doctor seemed amazed I wasn't in more distress- but I can tell you the stomach cramps and intestinal pains I had (looking back) were not normal. Keep a close track of your symptoms and let them know for sure if you cant get yourself on a regular schedule for BM's.
I also had the bad cramping pains, mostly in the middle of the night. I took 2 gas-x strips and the pain went away. It happened for about a week then went away completely! As for Iron, I am on the Chewable iron from bariatric advantage, mine is the lemon lime flavor which makes it tolerable and I do not have to take it with vitamin C since it is already in there. I think they have a new flavor too like a chocolate raspberry, but I cannot remember. I take that twice a day and drink about 4 liters of water, so I am regular.

I have also had some issues with this pregnancy, my first 3 months I lost 25lbs, and now I have found out that I have issues with any type of pasta, rice, bread of any type, and anything like it, even cereals. it causes extreme pain, bloating and bowel issues. I also have a very low BP 88 over 45 but the doctor keeps saying it's fine :(
I hope that you are able to figure out what is causing your issues and that they can be resolved. Just wanted to let you know your not alone !!
