Sweet Tooth - Gonzo
This is the absolute weirdest thing. I have had a sweet tooth my whole life. Since high school I have had chocolate pretty much daily. I have gone out of my way to stop and buy chocolate on the way home from work. Even during my strictest post-op days - I would somehow get the taste of chocolate into me.
Since pregnancy, however, I have no desire for sweets at all. I am not repulsed by them, but I have no drive to buy them, eat them, or anything. I am just really noticing it now as I see all of the sweets from
Christmas gathering dust.
I know this is not indicative of a problem, but are there any old-wives tales about the loss of cravings for sweets? It is just so weird...
Thanks

my friend had the same thing her last pregnancy...she just didn't have the desire for anything sweet. My other friend is pregnant right now and we always called her cookie monster...she has an actual aversion to sweets. It is so weird for her especially...she is craving eggs and peanut butter. She is currently 14+ weeks. I don't know of any problems or old wives tales, but my first friend I mentioned had a girl. :) Best of wishes to you!
I am a total carnivore, but for the entire first trimester, I was revolted by meat. I could not seem to eat enough fresh fruit.
Then, in the second trimester, the aversion to meat was gone and I could eat it again. However, I have always had a sweet tooth, and I found that sweets suddenly gave me heartburn and made me feel ill.
Now, I'm in the third trimester, and I am devouring everything in sight. My biggest cravings are for DIRT and wint-o-green lifesavers. Figure that one out!! My blood tests have come back fine... I'm not anemic or anything. I just really, really want to suck on a big dirt clod. LOL!
