Weight?

When I saw my RNY surgeon in November(I'm now 22 months out from surgery) and informed him I was pregnant, he told me that I most likely wouldn't gain as much weight as a normal woman during this pregnancy because of my RNY, but I am starting to freak out because I really feel like I'm gaining too much at this point...I eat healthy on a normal basis with an occasional bad day here and there, but someone please tell me if this is too much weight at this point~I started this pregnancy at 150lbs and I'm now 17 wks and when I weighed this morning the scale said 165...now I do realize that some of that could be because I haven't had a bowel movement in a few days(that tends to make the scale go up a bit for me if I'm backed up) and maybe a little of it is water retention, but should I be freaking out here?!!  Cause I am!!

Hang in there!!! I was the same exact way when I watched that magic 200 appear on my scale once again!! I had gotten down to around 140 and regained to about 200 right before we conceived (but lost aboue 20lbs and was at 183-185 when I found out I was preggo). It's BEYOND frustrating. Like I was syaing in a previous post- I ate HUGE amounts and non stop through my first and second trimester. The scale would stay for awhile then boom I would jump like 3-4lbs. I have been the same throughout this pregnancy with stable then gain. Just in the last 2 weeks or so, I have had 0 appetite and haven't even really wanted to eat. That being said, I dropped a few pounds and was actually HAPPY to see my scale say 206 this morning- which means I regained the 2 of the 3lbs I lost last week.(And I know I deserved it cus my appetite was back with avengence yesterday- not shocking that this morning I am still not wanting to eat!) So, I'm at a gain of around 20-23lbs plus or minus and as much as I hate to say "gain" it's just part of the life game. It's so hard not to worry about weight and everything, but hubby has taken my scale hostage after this morning's weigh in and refuses to let me weigh until I go to my drs appts, which are now every other week til next month. I whine and cry to him over and over that I am gaining weight and I feel so fat and he reminds me every day- you're not fat hunny, you're growing a child inside!" There are days I have to stop and remind myself that he is right...as long as baby's healthy- FORGET the weight. God gave you a blessing and don't stress over the small stuff....weight can come and go, but the baby you're growing inside is going to last a lifetime :)

I appreciate the encouragement Kerri, and I am trying so hard not to get frustrated...I definitely want my baby to be healthy and I can worry about my weight after he/she born...I hate when I weigh at home then have to weigh at the Dr's office cause no matter what my scale says, theirs always says 3 lbs more and that irritates me as well, LOL!  I need to stop freaking out and my hubby says the same thing yours does.."you're pregnant baby, it's okay"...but I think you know as well as I do that when you've lost as much as weight as we have, it doesn't always feel okay.  Thats what my mind says anyway.  I might have to put my scale away as well or I might just drive myself crazier, LOL!  Thanks for the advice :)

Absoloutely- No problem! I swear when my scale said 202...that's right went from 198 to 202 over night and I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown...I didn't even see 200 again...nope...straight past 200 and bring on 202!! It's definitely hard and the struggles we have faced in our weight loss journeys don't make it any easier...I won't lie- I look in the mirror and think "Oh dear Lord the fat girl is coming back!" And why does my house have to be covered in mirrors???

And oh the dr scale thing- ya...my dr's scale is always a plus 2 or 3 from mine...not to mention they always seem to schedule me in the later am to the early afternoon- after I've eaten not 1 but possibly 2 meals already, plus all the water and fluids and then I dread stepping on the scale!

If it's stressing you too much, just ask hubby to hide your scale for sure...as nuts as it will drive you and don't sweat the numbers. We're all here beside ya girl!!! :)

You sound like me. Lol.

I was telling my doctor the same thing... some days I gain 3 pounds... but I haven't gone to the bathroom. Then I lose it. And it's stressing me out! Lol.

He told me to chill out. He said that average weight gain is 30 pounds or so... I am overweight still... so he said that 0-15 was fine for me. Or that I could even gain 30 whatever. He didn't care as long as I didn't lose weight.

He said if my weight got to be too much he would let me know. Or if I hadn't gained enough he would let me know.

Not to stress.

He said I was pregnant. i was going to gain weight. Get used to it. Lol.

But in all seriousness... average weight gain is 30 pounds. You've gained half of that. And you are almost halfway through your pregnancy. I wouldn't be worried. I'm sure you're OB will tell you if there is issue for concern.
