Speaking of entitlement, has anyone heard from Dee (queendee) after her rant a couple months ago? I was just thinking of her because I remember her giving everyone advice not to buy anything & that people would be more generous at your showers if they knew you had "nothing" yet. I wonder how that worked out for her?

My rant is with regards to being off work and hating the fact that I am not making any money, I hate being dependent upon my husband for money, I have always worked and made my own money but for, the last time I was pregnant with my daughter and took the year off for maternity leave. I am really bothered by the fact that I have to ask my husband for money for something, I hate the question, why do you need it or the look like, that's really not what we need to spend the money on, ahhhhhhhh. If I want to spend money on something then I am old enough and grown up enough to understand whether or not I should be purchasing it or not. Drives me nuts, this is why I haven't been going out of the house very much because I can't stand asking for money. And yes I understand he has the right to ask why I need the money if I am taking his money but it still drives me crazy !!!

?? Oh no he does NOT have the right to ask why you need the money.  You're not taking 'his' money...it's the 'family' money.  You are at home taking care of the kids by mutual agreement.  It's not a matter of what's his is his and you have nothing because you are not 'working.' It's a matter of him supporting the family...and you're at home and need to buy things and shouldn't be 'asking' for money...he should be just making sure you have access to it...period.  I'm not telling you to go hog wild and shop til you drop on anything you want...but even IF you decided to treat yourself to a pair of shoes or whatever...as long as you know bills are paid and food's on the table and gas in the car...you should be able to occasionally do it...without asking for money or permission.

Love these postings...so my turn  :-)

An ex-coworker, asked her for some guidance on the fact that we just had a pipe burst due to the cold weather. We cannot use our kitchen sink, dishwasher, or washing machine.
Plus, we now have to find about $4000-$6000 to repair the line.

She works for a homebuilder, in the warranty department. Rather than suggest a reputable plumber or anything, she goes off on how now is not a good time to be having a kid and that I should have thought about that before I tricked my husband into it...yadda yadda yadda.
You know, I am fully aware my husband wasn't a willing or knowing participate (yes, it's his) but I gave him the opportunity to go his own way. He chose to stay and we are trying very hard to make things work. Why she found it necessary to bring that up, I have no idea. How it has any bearing on a pipe bursting or that he needs to 'man up' etc.

Ugh!!!!

Jess, you need to perfect the "Oh NO you did not just say that" look. It works wonders. I use it at least 3x week.
What nerve :(

As Chelle said...practice this look - and don't be afraid to call someone on their rudeness:

That said...I've learned over the years...the only way people can talk about things in your personal life - like whatever the cir****tances of your pregnancy - is if you let them into your personal business.  I'm not trying to be rude or nasty...just telling you to take this as a lesson learned about putting your personal business out there for *****es like her to throw it back in your face.

Love the post Holly. Thanks.

You're right too...I guess I didn't expect it from her. Thought she and I were better friends than that. Oh well...now I know the truth.

First a general comment about previous posts... SRLY?  Your aunt is buying you things on ebay that you don't necessarily want and expects you to pay her back for them?  Ummmm... NO!  You can tell her that you did not specifically want that item and therefore you do not want to pay for something that you do not want.  She needs to get that the $ she's blowing is HERS and not YOURS!

The coworker harping on your pregnancy and marriage instead of responding about the plumber needs... come on! That's just a bad case of the buttinskies!  Butt out!

OK... now... here's my rant...  it's not a major one at all cuz everything is going pretty well in my world.  But... here goes.  Why do people ignore emails that ask for very easy to get information when they know you really need it?  I mean... hello?  I sent out an email to a bunch of our friends requesting their mailing address so that we can send out the wedding invitations.  And why do I need to go chasing a few of them down now?  Ya... including one of my bridal party?!?!  Really people... how hard is it to hit "reply" on an email and give me your address?

See... told you... pretty mild this week.  :-)
Our little miracle baby boy is on his way!
