I don't consider myself "experienced" but...

I never had any luck with the mylicon drops, but some do. I think each baby is different.

As far as burping, mine was a tough one to burp too. The best method for us is to sit him on our leg and lean him forward a little bit, supporting his chest and chin with one hand and patting his back with the other. Like the picture in one of the other posts.

My son had one "yucky" eye. What worked for me was to massage the inside (by the nose) corner of his eye gently while feeding. Something about their tear ducts being too small to clear themselves out. Once I started doing this, it cleared up within a couple days if I remember right.

Good luck
Kina

Hi Kerri!
I have no idea about the gas drops or gripe water. They didn't have any of that stuff 13 years ago. When she started to get gassy I drove my behind to walmart at 2am and bought a bunch of those Playtex drop-in bottles with the plastic liners. After I was able to squish the air out of the bottle I definitely noticed she was happier and slept better.
After she was a month old and had some control of her head..I would prop her on the side of my leg and lean her foward into my hand. Also a great way to position the burp cloth like a little hammock to catch the spit up. Also lets you see their facial expressions and prevents puke in your hair. You can also jiggle your leg a little and that will help get a stubborn bubble up. Hope that helps!
