Um...let's put this in perspective here. Eleven pounds in three weeks is nearly four pounds a week. Before you had surgery, would you achieve 4 lbs a week loss for three weeks straight?

Your rate of loss isn't always going to be fast. There are a lot of factors involved. But the biggest thing you should realize is that this is a marathon not a race. Studies show that even so-called "slow losers" at the three year post-op mark had caught up with so-called "fast losers."

I know you know this isn't a magic wand. So keep your head up, keep working to change your life and mind. These things will ensure that these pounds you are taking off will stay off in the long term.

Hugs. I know you're excited and anxious but you really are doing fine.

I agree Cleopatra.  There were a couple of weeks, I didn't lose anything or very minimal like 0.5 pounds, but I thought about and said to myself its better than gaining 0.5 pounds and also I had to adjust my exercise and water intake, then bingo I started losing again! Its a wonderful thing to almost be guarranteed to lose every week, even if its a little, better than gaining.

Wow. I average 2 lbs a week...and I have since I had surgery. I have lost weight every week...so its coming off slow and steady. Fine by me....so long as it keeps coming off. T

I'd be SUPER EXCITED to lose 4lbs a week.

Hmmm? As I am still new, and not yet had this problem I'm not sure.

If I were a Weight    Watchers member still instead of a RNY gb patient, I would say:

"Eat more calories. At least 1200 cal. But re-evaluate the food quality of things you've been eatting recently, something simple could be throwing you off. Maybe you missed something. Also you must get all of your water, and you must get a good nights sleep. They are essential to weight loss. Lots of walking, or even better 15-30 minutes multiple times a day."

At least that's what I would say if I was still doing WW.

Sorry cuz this is going to seem like I'm picking on you but I am not.

There is nothing wrong with her rate of weight loss! Nothing. Zero. Nada. There might be some misplaced expectations going on here, but she's losing just fine. This is not "slow" loss (most people even though they are capable of losing up to 2 lbs. per week healthfully do not), it's NORMAL loss, it's "your skin is not as likely to get all loosey-goosey" loss, it's "your brain has time to comprehend what's going on" loss, it's "time to learn healthy behaviors and thoughts" loss.

There is nothing wrong with her rate of loss!

Sorry...I should probably not respond anymore cuz conversations like this tend to make me get preachy.

Good luck to you and her.

I lost 13lbs my first month and I was quite pleased with that.  Your losses will speed up, slow down and sometimes may not move at all.  It's all normal and we all go through it.
