Good morning ~ Thank you Friday - I never thought you would get here! Rough work week. I can't stop dreaming about moving on while still hoping things get better. I'm still thinking about how different my weekdays are from my weekends. How packed and exhausting M-F is compared to the weekends. No wonder I don't want to go anywhere or do much of anything. I need a change, but need a plan so I'm writing and working on figuring that out. My foot feels better today - yay! I'm still wearing good shoes and icing over the weekend to make sure. Today, I'm off early and need to go to Costco and the grocery store. This weekend we are just chilling the usual house chores, pedicure, relax, nap, football, Halloween movies, BBQ, kids coming over for Sunday dinner and it's game 1 of the World Series tonight.
QOTD - Yesterday I referred to a lifestyle checklist - though I don't actually have one, I like the idea of a checklist to meet all my daily goals. What would your lifestyle checklist look like?
Mine would be to weigh-in everyday, post on OH, 1300cals, 114g protein, 28g fiber, 80+ounces of water, vitamins (don't forget the evening ones), 10k steps, strength training 2x week, yoga/stretch 1x, Hike or beach walk on the weekends. I feel like I'm forgetting something important! I need this list especially for days I am too tired/distracted/stressed to see it on my own. I'm going to put it on the fridge and at my desk because I'm really good at ignoring my phone reminders lately.
Accountability - great - 67 active minutes, 10,891 steps - I did some simple stretching for my back, but no real yoga session. Today I am 166.8, well hydrated with 30 minutes done on the treadmill.
b- coffee, legendary pastry
l - grilled chicken, quest chips
d - side salad w/chicken first - then 1 slice of pizza
s - apple, watermelon, yogurt
Have a great day and weekend!

I was thinking this would definitely make sense with an HSA, because I think you still have access to the funds you've saved in there even after you're no longer working. For an FSA, I don't think having an extra $1000 would make sense (unless you're in a really high tax bracket, I guess...). Although I could probably come out ahead at some lower level - I'll see if I can figure it out. Our tax bracket should be higher than usual this year since DH had some capital gains when our financial guy re-tooled the account he inherited from his mother - making it more appropriate for someone his age (rather than her age...) - I'll check the IRS web site and see if can guesstimate what our new bracket will be (well, if we have a new one - I don't know the ranges right off hand - but it's posted somewhere)
I've been less funny about it in the past because we could carry over $500 from year to year (I think it went up to $600 for 2025) - so I really didn't worry about not using it all. But with DH planning to retire this year, we can't carry any over - whatever we don't use by the end of 2025 is forfeited. My thought was that if it was under $100, I wouldn't really care - but if it was several hundred, that would be a lot. I'll calculate it out, though, now that you mention it. If the tax savings is more than what we'd lose if we had to forfeit the balance at the end of the year, it would be worth it...thanks for mentioning that - I hadn't thought of it that way.
I always make my own - from recipes I find on the internet. Here's the one I used for the channa dal (I've also made makhani dal several times (made with black lentils - and has cream in it (although I use half & half instead))

5mph was as high as I ever comfortably got, my sweet spot. Maybe what Sheila refers to as a wog? Now I'm curious!!

I'm also exempt so I'm not required to either but "house" rules are that no one eats at there desks to keep bugs and critters away and to keep the carpet clean (not that drinks can't be spilled). I'm not typically a rule breaker but I break that one and my boss sees me and doesn't care (the rule was one of his dad's and he's barely in the office anymore so it's all good).
Oh sorry, a slow run from what I was doing before , I'm at 5mph

Going to the gym and getting on the treadmill in your home is a VERY different. I say get the treadmill, then you have no excuse but to use it without having to go anywhere!! Do it!

At my office we are exempt (law enforcement) from having to take the lunch per the labor laws, so most of us eat at our desk except for front facing staff. Today, at 2pm, I ate while in a meeting with a peer - it was the only way.
