Topic: RE: Gallbladder issues BESIDES pain?

Hi all,

Almost 10 years out now. I am someone how never had issues with gas, bloating, heartburn etc. To the point of my surgeon not doing an upper gi before surgery because I had zero GI issues. Still haven't all these years. About a month ago, I started having nausea and just a tad higher temp than normal. I'm usually right at 98.6 but hovering now at 99.1-99.5. So not a "fever" but now MY normal. About two weeks ago I got a cold (running nose, congestion, cough) that lasted like two weeks so I attributed the nausea to it. Thing is, now the cold is gone but nauseated, tired and GASSY. Not a normal amount of gas, like yucky, bloated l, burping etc. Temp is still like 99.3 and feel flushed and just bad. Wondering if anyone had gallbladder issues without pain and what your symptoms were before pain set it. Don't have insurance so ER is my only option for care so I don't want to overreact if it's not an emergency. Thanks for any help!

Topic: RE: 8 years out and suddenly can't tolerate carbs

So I'm 8 years out. I used to dump a lot the first few years and it gradually went away but over the last year I have been havingajor problems with carbs, especially anything with flour. It makes me a have a panic attack, heart races so high and I feel terrible and usually tired afterwards. It seems to be a lot worse when I am stressed and gives me anxiety to the point that I hardly want to eat. It seems like even many foods that are not fatty/carby make me feel slightly off but carbs really get to me. Has anyone else had problems like these so far out?

Topic: RE: Treating b12 deficiency. I may have REALLY messed up.

First off I have to admit something awful. I am either 7 or 8 years out from my rny and I have been terrible with vitamin compliance. I've probably only had a total of 6 months of b12 supplements. I don't know why, it's the dumbest thing I've done so far. I guess it was the mind set of gaining weight means if I can absorb calories then it's getting what it needs. I'm a nurse, I know that's not true but I guess I just messed up. Recently I started feeling extremely tired. Ive never taken naps and all of a sudden had to sleep halfway through the day. So I decided to go back on my vitamins. Bariatric multis and dry d3 and sublingual b12. I've been back on about a week now and no longer napping but now my body feels terrible. It stated with my feet tingling and burning, random itches, foot and hand vibrations and *****ling. Tonight I've been hit with yawns, yawns that won't stop for almost an hour even though I'm not sleepy. Im assuming these symptoms are from the nerve impulses restarting, I don't know. Ok so another big problem is that I have no health insurance, none. It's not available to me, so my choices are deal with it and hope for the best of go to ER. Doesn't seem like an ER problem but I just don't know if it is something I can get under control on my own. Does anyone have any experience treating a severe b12 deficiency and did you have anything like this happen?

Topic: RE: What's on your menu today, RNYers?

Wow just realized that I am about 2 months away from 2 years out!

B: Coffee and my leftover steak and green beans from last night.

L: quesadilla made with the Xtreme Wellness spinach and herb low carb high fiber wraps.  Which are awesome by the way.

Snack: My new addiction,  Dannon light and fit Greek yogurt in toasted Coconut vanilla.  This stuff is so good that I have shut the mouthes, mid protest, (their hated of all Greek yogurt!) of three of my not so health conscious family members.

Dinner: Will be tired and lazy by then so an Atkins dinner will be on the menu.  Meatloaf and veggies.  Works in a pinch.

As a nurse, I see bruises that size from Lovenox all the time. Mine was also just as bad after my bypass too....

Also many bypass surgeons do daily injections of blood thinners, so if someone is in for more than one day, they could have multiple injections in different areas that would create several bruises that might form into one large one.

Thats usually from the Lovenox injection. Its a blood thinner injection they give in the abdomen to prevent blood clots. Not painful just looks rough. Mine looked about the same :

Its crazy how we vary so drastically after this surgery. I feel bad not being able to give because it was something i did religiously.  I guess I will have to donate time or money now :) Oddly enough Ive felt fine ever since. I didnt even know anything was wrong :)

Its really scary. Surgeons should have a guideline of things they HAVE to tell their patients. I think that even though some can give successfully, its a gamble.

Topic: RE: What would you eat with bean dip?

I make the faux "chips". Parchment paper, add small piles of sharp cheddar (or cheese of choice) and microwave for a minute or two or until they crisp. I also take either a low carb tortilla or one of the italian style light wraps and crisp in the toaster oven and cut into chips size pieces. Buffalo chicken dip is really good and it tastes just fine on celery sticks or stuffed into baked jalapeno or bell peppers.

Topic: RE: Giving blood after rny....not a good idea for some (like me)

So back in June, the red cross was doing a blood drive and I wanted to help out. They checked my hemoglobin and it was perfect. They even do a lab panel where you can see your cholesterol, irons saturation and all that good stuff. So I donated blood and felt fine. I've been having those spells that a lot of people who have lost a lot of weight have where I get super dizzy and almost blackout. My six month labs (in june) were perfect. I went to my pcp two weeks ago and after she ran my labs and my iron and hemoglobin are so low she couldnt believe it and had them rechecked. It has been almost 3 and a half months and my body has not replenished what I gave. I am under orders to never donate again. I really didnt know this was a concern or that anemia would happen so fast. I just wanted to share so that people will ask their doctors before donating because obviously some of us cant handle the loss of that much iron.

Topic: RE: 8 months out and I am not losing anymore.

Ive lost 6-10 lbs in the last 2 months. The scale has stopped moving. I am 8 months out. Down 141lbs since oct. 2012 and 120 of that is post surgery. So Thats great to lose 140lbs but I am still 260lbs! So I guess some of that is allowing some bad stuff back into my diet, but I guess I didnt realise how hard it would be to eat so few carbs. I just really dont like cooking and I eat out too much. I always try to eat the best I can out, but i do admit to letting some bad things back into my diet. I need some kind of reset for my body. Any ideas? Is my body done losing or it it just a stall? I feel like my weightloss has been more stall times than losing times.

Have to do 6 months supervised diet, do psych evaluation etc but once you get everything in they have 30 days to make a decision. It took a little under 3 weeks in my case.

Topic: RE: plantar fasciitis (Bone Spurs) in my heels.

I had severe plantar fasciitis, spurs and achilles tendonitis. My podiatrist said I needed surgery on both feet after I lost weight and could handle the recovery. Im now 120lbs lighter and my feet dont hurt anymore at all! I cant say what your experience will be but for me I went from holding onto cabinets to walk around the house to jogging, so there is hope :

Topic: RE: To everyone who had surgery just before new years 12-12:Where are you now?

Ok I will go :)

My surgery was 12-04-12

SW:401 (per0op...lost some and surgery date I was 377)

GW:175

CW:295

Height:5'7"

Typical food intake:

B: 1 egg with bellpeppers, ham and red onions

L: Whatever protein I have around. Yesterday it was leftover spaghetti meat without noodles. Doctor wants to me to have 1/2 cup.

D: Roast chicken from Barnes and some crunchy raw veggies. I eat steak a lot and lots of chicken :)

S: Beef jerky, or cheese stic****asionally pistachios (not often as they are my weakness!)

NSVs Expereienced: I jogged too! It feels awesome! I can lean back in the tub without creating a tidal wave! lol My daughter told me she can fit her arms around me :) Wearing size 22s after busting out of my 30ws is awesome. Just being able to go to a concert and stand for a few hours. Or actually wanting to walk more is a foreign concept to me.

Biggest Body Issue so far: Hate my boobs too. Or lack there of....Also my stomach seems to lose fat in little pits and chunks...I'll never wear a bikini lol

Confession: I've had a drinkor two....twice, I've had a white carb here and there, I dont track my food very well, and I am obsessed with my scale and weight every day. I am just coming off a one MONTH long stall that was really scaring me! But my biggest confession is that I am disappointed because everyone always told me that I would be oh soooo gorgeous if only I would lose weight, which unfortionatly i am afraid that even the loss of over a hundred plans and I am begining to think that I wont be pretty skinny either :(

Just got my first Mirena iud about 7 hours ago. Easy and quick, not much pain. My doctor says the hormones are barely even detectable by blood by 3 months. Last 5 years and shouldnt gain weight. So glad I dont have to worry about it. I did depo for a year, gained almost 100lbs and after 3 cracked teeth found out it was making me leech calcium from my teeth and bones. No thanks.

Topic: RE: Month+ long stall not even 4months out?

Ok Ive never posted about a stall. They come and they go, just stay on track etc, I know. But I am now t the point of getting concerned. I have lost 80 something lbs postop for a total of 101lbs with preop diet. Thats great but I still need to lose around 125lbs. The scale hasnt moved in over a month. I am right under 4 months. I am scared I wont get to my goal at this rate. I am doing everything they say to and it just wont move. Any ideas at all? My surgeon wasnt concerned but it seems a bit early for such a long stall. I also get paranoid because ive had all kinds of hormone problems and im worried something will keep this from working.
