sleep apnea consultation 08/12

i am over weight , i snore really loud every nite ,i can doze off and actuall hear myself snoring, my problem is that i wake up choking sometimes i can't catch my breath that scares me , the other nite i did it 3 times my fiance woke me up. did anyone else had to do a consultation first then sleep apnea test?

HEY SHERRY,USUALLY YOUR SURGEON GIVES A REFERRAL FOR A SLEEP STUDY I KNOW MINES DID,I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO FOR A CONSULT,THAT WAS ONE OF THE TEST THEY DO BEFORE YOU HAVE WLS WELL ATLEAST MY DOC DID.EVERY DOC IS DIFFERENT.KEEP US POSTED GOD BLESS EBONY

I avoided the sleep study as long as I could, but my PCP gave me a referral to the Sleep Center since I would need to have the CPAP before surgery. You can either ask your surgeon or your primary care physician since if you need a CPAP, they will be the ones to prescribe it for you. The sleep study wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually pretty comfortable. Good Luck!
