I think my infection is back.

I am 6 weeks out now, eating regular foods as tolerated and doing pretty well.  Other than the fact that I got a C diff infection in the hospital.  And I've been fighting it ever since.  First antibiotic resolved the symptoms (massive explosive diarrhea 20+ times per day, stomach cramping, nausea and generally feeling like utter crap), but gave me an allergic reaction and then the C diff came back too yet (somewhat typical from what I hear).

Then I was put on another antibiotic, which resolved my symptoms.  I finished it, got tested, test said I didn't have the infection anymore.  That was 10 days ago and I've been pretty healthy since then.  But I woke up at midnight last night and the symptoms are back again.  I've already pooped 11 times today.  I feel like complete crap.  No energy, abdominal pain, nausea, not eating.  I have been glued to the couch other than running to the bathroom.  I hate this.  It's getting old.  

I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow and I want to be referred to an infectious disease specialist so we'll see what he says.  I just want to feel better and love my sleeve.  Now I know that the infection is just a secondary thing to the sleeve, but because I've been so sick off and on since the surgery, it's hard for me to disconnect the two mentally.

I've read about this (sorta making myself crazy doing too much c diff research online).  I need to find a doctor who is a c diff expert in my area and I'm not sure how to go about that.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that! Hope you are able to get it under control soon - that sounds like a horrible infection.

I think the specialist is a good I dea.  Hope this gets resoved soon so you can enjoy your new life!
