Creeping no longer!!!

Hello OH friends,

At 53 yrs old, I finally came to the realization that I no longer wanted to eat my emotions and be obese. Along with being overweight I had started to experience medical problems such as: sleep apnea, depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, metabolic syndrome, and an array of aches and pains. Diabetes type 2 was just around the corner waiting for me.

I have gradually put the weight on since the birth of my daughter 18 yrs ago. I have avoided taking pictures of myself for years. Now my daughter graduates May 2014 and I wanted to be in the graduation pictures and not be ashamed of how I look. I knew of 2 people at work who had been successfully sleeved and I saw their transformation with envy.

I checked with Aetna on coverage and was told I needed to attend 6 months of physician supervised weight lose sessions. And thus my journey to a healthier, happier life began in Oct 2012.

I must confess, I have been creeping on this site since then. I am in awe of the Vets and their wealth of information and personal accomplishments. I am embracing the respect, compassion, motivation and endless encouragement given to each and everyone who posts. I am feeling a sense of belonging to a family all for a common goal.

Tomorrow is my “Rebirthday” I’m fortunate to have a supportive family, and thankful for my friends at “Obesity Help making the journey together.” To win we have to lose!

Please add me as a friend,

Good luck Patricia!

I lurked on this site for almost a year before I ever posted, but the information was invaluable. I do not think I would have had the confidence to go through with surgery if I did not have this resource. So do not be shy, ask everything you can think of.

All the best, K

consult weight 241 (had not been accurately weighed for over 10 years, my medical records just said "wheelchair") high weight was probably closer to 260.
