VSG on 07/08/13 with

I take chewables of the following:

multivitamin formulated for bariatric patients x2 daily

600 mg calcium citrate (the preferred version of Ca, as it is better absorbed by our bodies) + vit D x2 daily

18 mg iron + vit C at night (a few hours after my Ca supplement)

sublingual B12 1x weekly

I also have labs run 2x yearly to keep an eye on things.  At last check, I was golden.  I did start Mg supplementation this week as my multi doesn't have enough in it, and I have begun to have muscle cramps in my feet that I feel are attributable to low magnesium since I'm getting plenty of calcium each day.  Prior to surgery, I was taking a multi and B12 anyway so what I do now is not much different than what I did before.

Your multivitamins are missing at least Selenium.  (Most children's vitamins are lacking it.  But it's easy to supplement solo and recommended.)

I take Celebrate Multi Complete (w/ Iron) - 3 capsules / day

2 calcium / fiber gummies - ~500 of calcium

1 dark chocolate calcium disc ~500 calcium (this is my divine treat each evening)

I should be taking calcium citrate instead.  If my labs come back low on calcium, I will make a switch.

You post made me review what I am taking ironically before surgery I had the hardest time swallowing pills , now I take a handful in one swallow every morning. My surgeon suggested 1500IU of Calcium Citrate per day,   5000 IU of B12 per week, and a multivitamin that had at least  200% of your daily requirements per day,

I take  (1)  OPURITY® BYPASS & SLEEVE Optimized - Chewable   contain 1600IU of Vit  D ,  1.  5000 IU  Biotin by Nature Made,   (1)omeprazole 40 mg,  (1)Docusate Sodium 100 mg (stool softener) , still taking a water pill and High blood pressure pills also.  During the day I take 3 Bariatric Advantage Carmel Calcium chews these are expense but I love the taste.   Once a week I take a B12 sublingual tablet with  5000IU in it before my surgery I used to take one of these a day then the NUT told be it was too much. Once I starting taking the B12 I notice a big difference in the way I felt.  I have encourage my daughter and husband to take b12 and they also have notice a positive difference

Good Luck Deb

2X  Bariatric Advantage Chewable Multivitamin in Berry (I hate the taste of these.  I'm looking for a new multi)

1X  Thiamine Capsule (100 mg)

3X  Bariatric Advantage Caramel Chewy Bites Calcium Citrate (500 mg each)

1X  B12 Sublingual (1000 mcg plus 200 mcg Folate)

1X  Dry D3 Capsule (5,000 UI)

1X  Iron (29 mg)

That was after surgery.  Since my 3-month follow up yesterday, I've been advised to stop taking the iron, take the B12 4 times per week, and stop taking the D3.  However, I'm going to continue with the D3 because I'm convinced it's more important for my overall health.

Additionally, I take two Fiber Well Gummies daily to help keep the pipes flushed.
