Protein Shakes for Diabetics

I'd like some advise on protein shakes for diabetics. The dietician recommended that whatever shake I pick have at least 15 grams of protein and must have less than 5 grams of sugar. She said the Premier Protein shakes at Sams are good or I could try Pure Protein powder or Lean Body powder at Wal-Mart. Has anyone tried these brands and if so what did you think? Are there any other diabetic options that are reasonably priced?

I am just starting to try different protein shakes as well.... I tried a sample of chocolate premier protein. The texture was a little weird for me ( I am a texture person ) but I added just a splash of skin milk and blended it and it tasted great! You can buy a 4 pack at Kroger or Walmart to see how you like it before committing to a SAMs quantity. :) there are also some recipes I plan on trying at www.premierprotein.com Good Luck!!

So far I like Unjury pretty good. 21g protein, and 1g sugar.

I like the premier protein drinks.  Much cheaper at Costco and Sams than Walmart.  There have been some quality control issues with heat.  When they get hot, they curdle.  Costco exchanged the box with no issues.

I've used Premier Protein RTD shakes from the get-go. I started with choclate but now like the strawberry-vanilla best but it's hard to find at Costco. I also use Unjury Chicken Broth and unflavored, but you have to watch the temp. Anything over 140 degrees curdles the whey and those lumps do not go away. Very gross. I find most of the powders have a weird texture so they tend to sit on my counter :) PB2 is a really nice way to add peanut flavor and protein if you aren't allergic.

The sample I received was curdled.... Gross!! Thanks for the heads up.... I thought it was the texture of the premier protein.

I tried a lot of protein powders but I keep going back to Isopure Zero Carb Unflavored. It has 110 calories, no carbs, no sugar, and 26 grams of protein. Being unflavored i mix it with just about anything so I don't get tired of the chocolate or vanilla rotation. You can buy it at GNC or order it online.

Most of the Syntrax Matrix and Syntrax Nectar lines have either zero or very low carb.  I drink the Chocolate Truffle everyday - it is 0 carb and so good.
