My surgery is Dec. 8th and I just developed a cough, mild cold. I can not take any NSAIDS five days prior to surgery. So I do have a few days. I need to "NIP THIS IN THE BUD" as Barney would say. Any suggestions? Thanks! "Cough Cough"

First - check with your surgeon before you take anything.

I like Nyquil and Dayquil capsules when I've got a cold.  Tylenol is okay for us.

I'm sure this isn't pre-op diet approved, but real honey works well for cough. You could ask about that, maybe? And sometimes when I need it, I just grab a few packets from the coffee bar. :)
