No shaving?

So my surgery is Tuesday and the hospital told me not to shave for 24 hours before hand. Shave? Shave what? How would me shaving my legs or underarms effect my surgerh?

Am I missing something? I should have asked them but I chickened out :)

They don't want you to shave because you might cut yourself and develop an infection. That's the reason at the hospital I work at anyway.

It's about the risk of infection. Hospitals are full of crazy bacteria.

They don't want you to have an open wounds where bacteria could enter.  That's the last thing you need!
