Well you guys know I have been running and fighting funky exhaustion prior to starting back with the jogging and I was so nervous about my first 5k since my bladder surgery, not because of the surgery but because I've only been training 12 days and I am naturally slow........
36:59, I am so excited!  I am shooting for 35 min a week from Sat, but I'll be happy with anything under 36.

Ghost N Goblins end of Oct, aiming for 33 min or less.

Then the 5 MILE Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.  Starting training for that as soon as the 9/26 race is over......

I even joined the local Runner's club so I can do up to 30 5ks a year at a cost of $3 per event!!!!

Wow! That is great. I would love to have that time. I am so slow and still take some walk breaks. I will be excited if I do my 4 miles in an hour. You are making such progress. I want to do our turkey trot but I have to work. :(
Congratulations.

I did 3-1 intervals, 3 min "running" 1 min walking the whole race.  It would have killed me to run the whole race, my time was much better by doing it that way.

I am going to do 4 min intervals next Sat.

WOW - you're my hero!  Just listening to your schedule makes me tired...  I'm super happy for you and your accomplishments - running isn't the easiest thing to do either.

I went out for a walk/jog the other dayand did the interval thing, in fact, when I started running, there was a program that had you preparing for a 5K in like 8 weeks, and it was interval training.  Now when I run, I usually just run for the whole time after a few minutes walking to warm up and cooling down at the end.

BUT - the last few times I've ran my left knee has started bothering me - UGH.  I've NEVER had knee problems before - lose weight and BAM - knee problems... maybe its age instead...

You'll hit your goal - with the 6 week break it just put you behind a little but you'll catch up soon to where you want to be!

Thanks Jody!  Intervals are easier on your knees and can be used to improve speed rather than slowing you down, so you might want to try a new program for "faster" runners with intervals.

There are some on runnersworld.com

That's where I hope to be next year!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Marsha Thank you so much for your support and kindness and all of those things!

I do love it, truly.  I am sore, so sore today and it feels so good to be "athlete" sore!

I just found a really good book written by Jeff Galaloway. The interval is exactly how he says to run. He claims that if you do the intervals you won't get hurt. i am reallly going to stick to him after hering  you say that! Thanks for the reinforcement!
