WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with good choices during the Honeymoon Period!!!!

Good Morning LW's!!!!   I took my Mom for blood work this morning.  My Mom is a diabetic and I guess I need to read up on it b because I have been watching her sweets like crazy and her sugar is up.  I guess I need to go and talk to someone about this because apparently I'm not doing a good enough job.

Hi Roz,

Does she eat a lot of bread and carbs?  That will send it up also.  So will most fruits.

I finally had a very successful day yesterday with my eating.  I went to heat my lunch in the kitchen(which I try to avoid) and someone had brought in a cake...  I did not eat any of it, but I just got rid of the last of the cake at my house last night.  I told DH if he wanted it he better eat it because it was going in the garbage with something on it.  He ate it!!

We just don't know what she is eating.  I take her for groceries and we get healthy foods but I'm not sure she is eating.  The dementia is worse and I think she is forgetting to eat or maybe eating all day.  I know that when I do see her eat 20 minutes later she can't remember what or if she ate.  My SIL has been taking her over dinner and she says she eats it like she is starved but the food is disappearing from the fridge and cupboards. It's possible she might even be throwing it away thinking it's old.  We tried getting Meals on Wheels but she was so upset over people coming to the house that we canceled it.

We go to the DR. tomorrow (Thursday) for her 3 month checkup and I have to make a list of things to talk to him about.  I'm not sure what we are going to do about her but I think we are going to have to make a decision soon.

Praying for you and your family Roz.  Sounds like y'all are going to have to make some tough decisions.  Hope everything goes ok at the doctors.

Mom is 80 and  has lived in the save place for 55 years and she gets confused now when she even visits our homes.  I'm so afraid she will lose what memory she has now if we move her.

She is starting to call the great grandkids....that blonde girl and the black boys (lol) because she can't remember their names.  She is getting us mixed up too.

I MADE her give me her clothes so I could take them home to wash  and it made me sick to fight with her. The next morning when I dropped her clothes off she was ready for church.  She never goes to church anymore but I had told her I would drop her clothes off in the morning on my way to church and all she remembered about the whole conversation was that I would be there before church so she was ready to go.

When I took her for blood work yesterday she wore dirty red capris (it's freezing here),a pink shirt, and bright red socks with dirty tennis shoes with no strings....I could have died (upset but also laughing).  I had to get to work so I couldn't even make her go change.

A few weeks ago she called me at 9 in the evening and said she didn't have anything to eat.  DH and I rushed her over some food.  Everything was bare.  She must have thrown all of her food in the garbage.

Oh dear, maybe you can get her some sugar free sweets.  There are some nice ones out there (even if they are slightly pricey).  Sounds like you're going to have to really get her to watch all her carbs, at least you're au fait with low carb substitutes.

I think I'm going to try Val's ricotta fluff this weekend.  Search for the word 'fluff' and it's about half way down her profile http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/valgroce/

I let her get 1 pack of SF cookies and I know she ate the whole pack as soon as she got home because I couldn't find them when I stopped to check on her.  She eats a lot of vegetables but she has never been fond of meat.  Now she says she can't chew it.

I will check the "fluff" out.  Anything that says "fluff" must be good...LOL!

Sounds Good!

I get the frozen from Sam's Club.  DH ate all the green beans and all I had was mac & cheese - so I just ate the fish.

Do you make yours or buy it frozen?
